Subject: Lyr Add: Will o' the Wisp From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 30 Aug 13 - 07:45 PM Lyr. Add: WILL O' THE WISP Words E. L. Blanchard, Music J. H. Tully, 1872 1 Will o' the Wisp who leads astray Travelers, till they lose their way, Wherever my light is seen, beware! For danger is lurking there. Dark eyes seem to glancing be Harmless beams enough to see, But under those long dark lashes lie, Will o' the Wisp's own witchery- I'm Will o' the Wisp who leads astray Travelers, till they lose their way. Wherever my light is seen, beware! For danger is lurking there. Ah! -Yes! danger is lurking there. Ah!- Yes! danger is lurking there. 2 Will o' the Wisp who leads by night, Mortals, with my flick'ring light, In every shape be sure I come To lead the wand'rer far from home But of all my forms there's one I'll tell, That never fails to serve me well, O! beware of the light of a love-lit eye, For there lies my deepest witchery- I'm Will o' the Wisp who leads astray Travelers, till they lose their way. Wherever my light is seen, beware! For danger is lurking there. Ah!- Yes! danger is lurking there. Ah!- Yes! danger is lurking there. Sheet music at Levy Sheet Music Collection. J. L. Peters, 5999 Broadway, NYC Thought this a cute song. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Will o' the Wisp From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 31 Aug 13 - 10:26 AM Thanks, Q. I'm thinking of adding that melody to my collection of American piano music. By the way, the Levy site has it indexed under "I'm Will o' the Wisp." I found it easily using Blanchard's name. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Will o' the Wisp From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 31 Aug 13 - 11:16 AM Thanks for the Levy index name. The actual sheet music for the Blanchard-Tully song has "Will O' The Wisp." I found piano music for "I'm Will...." at American Memory. An entirely different tune. You might be interested in this melody as well. |
