Subject: RE: Tech: What's changed on Mudcat? From: Tootler Date: 02 Sep 13 - 11:59 AM My experience is similar. It seems when you click on Mudcat or a link to a thread, it hangs for a while then loads very rapidly. It's the same whether I'm using Safari on my iPad or Firefox on my Linux PC or even the default browser on my Samsung Android Tablet. |
Subject: RE: Tech: What's changed on Mudcat? From: Suzy Sock Puppet Date: 02 Sep 13 - 09:53 AM Jim, I've had the same problem. If you're writing something you're putting your heart and soul into, copy and paste to a more secure format if you must leave the page to check on your facts. |
Subject: RE: Tech: What's changed on Mudcat? From: maeve Date: 02 Sep 13 - 08:50 AM Slower, yes- not loading at all, even more often. Max is occupied with far more essential health issues so I don't mind dealing with these temporary annoyances until he recovers. Max, take the time you need. Maeve |
Subject: RE: Tech: What's changed on Mudcat? From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 02 Sep 13 - 08:38 AM I have a Mac & use Firefox & Mudcat is my home page. It seems to take forever to load, same happens when I click on the Mudcat bookmark. I've also lost posts on occasion - usually when I didn't check that the thread had refreshed. If I see it hasn't posted I can arrow back & submit again (& again ... ) When my Personal Help Desk gets back from his overseas jaunt I've been planning to ask him to visit & look at a few things, including Mudcat's lack of speed. sandra |
Subject: RE: Tech: What's changed on Mudcat? From: Bonnie Shaljean Date: 02 Sep 13 - 08:07 AM It's way, way slower than it used to be - in all my browsers and on both the Mac & PC. Very discouraging when faced with the prospect of making clickies. Also posts often don't get through the first or even second tine. |

Subject: RE: Tech: What's changed on Mudcat? From: GUEST,Peter Laban Date: 02 Sep 13 - 05:50 AM Probably just a tad more frustrating is seeing a message posted correctly, only to see it gone without a trace shortly after. Happened to me two or three times (and before someone suggests, nothing that even remotely warranted a moderatorial removal) |
Subject: RE: Tech: What's changed on Mudcat? From: Jim Carroll Date: 02 Sep 13 - 05:38 AM Maybe it's the ageing process but a number of times I've posted a message only to find that it never went off, though it went through all the motions. Still, mustn't grumble - another sign of advancing years Jim Carroll |
Subject: RE: Tech: What's changed on Mudcat? From: Mr Happy Date: 02 Sep 13 - 03:20 AM Seems much slower than previously |
Subject: Tech: What's changed on Mudcat? From: Dave the Gnome Date: 02 Sep 13 - 03:03 AM After my last question about MC behaving differently from IE to Firefox it has now standardised across both those platforms. What I have noticed though is that is is now taking longer to load, but when a thread does load it becomes quicker to page through. I would guess previously it loaded bits at a time into memory so you could page through up to where it had loaded. It now seems to not let you page until it is all loaded. Anyone else noticed or is it just me? Cheers DtG |
