(Since the camp is flat and venues fairly close together, one CAN, with a little effort, make zippy-trips back & forth, getting as close as possible to the idea of cloning.)
(That runs the risk of meeting someone on the path and stopping to chat 'just for a minute' and missing out completely.) Planning and steely reserve is required!

By 'that first Getaway', I meant of course "MY first Getaway', the first one at which the gracious FSGW crowd welcomed the mudcat shenanigans. Many more since, and to come, and I look forward to new faces and new friends!

Let me second Janie's plug for the auction. Maybe we could have an auction thread to drum up interest if there are any particularly wonderful items destined for the tables? As someone who would not have made that first Getaway without a scholarship, it has been my privilege to try to pay some small part of it back over the years any way I could. Please join me in bringing interesting and valuable (let's just say it) donations and/or bidding early, high, late and often on auction treasure.

We now interrupt this program to put in a plug for the Silent Auction. The money raised by the auction goes to the Getaway scholarship fund - a fund that has made it possible for many of us, me included, to attend the Getaway at various points in our lives when times were lean. And times continue to be lean for a lot of people.

We have limited space for the Silent Auction, so please bring something but please don't bring a car trunk worth of stuff. Also, if 95% of the general population, no matter how hard up they might be probably would chunk it into the trash, then chunk it. Or at least don't bring it to the auction. It is certainly true that one person's trash is another's pleasure and not being picky here about donations. Just asking folks to use a little common sense.

As I sat here and read over the schedule, I found myself grumping over assorted workshops conflicting with others I want to go to. I had to laugh when I realized what I was doing. Great job, FSGW people. Everything looks amazing and I wish I could be in five places at once all weekend.
