EVERY DAY IN THE WEEK aka I GOT A GAL
As recorded by The Doc Wiley Trio on "Wild Cat Boogie"

I got a gal for ev'ry day in the week.
Yes, I got a gal for ev'ry day in the week.
Got so many gals, ain't got no time to sleep.

My Monday gal cooks me turnip greens.
She's the best old gal that I ever seen.

CHORUS: I got a gal for ev'ry day in the week.
Got so many gals, ain't got no time to sleep.

My Tuesday gal gives me my home.
I wants ev'rybody to leave her alone. CHORUS

My Wednesday gal buys clothes and shoes,
Keeps me from havin' those wintertime blues. CHORUS

My Thursday gal wants to fuss and fight.
Ev'rybody knows that that ain't right. CHORUS

My Friday gal gives me the change,
And I'm scared to call her name. CHORUS

My Saturday gal she wants my dough.
I'll have to be lettin' her go. CHORUS

My Sunday gal gives me my love.
She's my one and only turtledove. CHORUS

I GOT A GAL FOR EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK
As sung by Big Joe Turner & Pete Johnson on "Piano Boogie Woogie Vol. 1" (2008)

I got a gal for ev'ry day in the week. (2x)
All o' my girls are really hard to beat.

My Monday gal buys me my hats and shoes. (2x)
Gives me my spendin' change, starts my week off in the groove.

My Tuesday gal, she's built up from the ground.
Tuesday gal, built up from the ground.
I look at my baby, my love comes jumpin' down.

My Wednesday gal tells me all 'bout the jive. (2x)
She's a little bitty girl but she's got great big thighs.

Talk to me baby, on a Thursday afternoon. (2x)
I'm wait a week for you, baby, but you come too doggone soon.

[Spoken:] Is she groovy? Is she groovy, Jack?

It's Friday; here comes my baby now. (2x)
She's a mean mistreater; don't mean me no good nohow.

Sat'd'y night, oh, I'm in the groove.
Sat'd'y night, boys, I'm in the groove.
'Fore I leave this chick this mornin', she's gon' leave me with the blues.

Sunday, baby, I ain't prayin' here by myself.
Sunday mornin' I ain't prayin'; I ain't by myself.
If all them chicks quit me, I'll get somebody else. (Yeah, brother.)

GOTTA GIRL FOR EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK

I got a gal for ev'ry day in the week.
I got me a girl for ev'ry day in the week.
I got to buy me some bulldogs, keep them from makin' their midnight creep. (Yes, sir, I sure got to do that.)

I got a Monday gal; she cooks me turnip greens. (That's a good gal, too, man; that's a good gal.)
I got a gal for Monday, cooks me turnip greens. (Yes, sir; yes, sir.)
I got me a girl for Tuesday, give me those boiled baked beans. (Yes, yes.)

I got a Wednesday girl; she buys my clothes and my shoes. (That's a good gal, too; I declare it is.)
I got a gal for Wednesday, buys my clothes and shoes.
I got a gal for Thursday, gives me those worried blues.

I got a Friday gal (Boy, that's a killer); she give me my spendin' change. (Lord, have mercy!)
I got a gal for Friday, give me my spendin' change.
She's a married girl; I just ain't gon' call her name.

I got a gal for Sat'day, give me my diamond ring. (Ah, that's a good gal, too.)
I got a gal for Sat'day; she gave me my diamond ring.
For that gal, that gal, she'll do 'most anything. (Yeah, but that Sunday gal!)

I got a gal for Sunday, give me cool canned beer.
I got a girl for Sunday, give me cool canned beer.
She cries all day long, "Papa, don't you leave me here!"

Thanks Steve. 'Twas very similar to 'Six Girls', as you suggested, a variation.

I have recorded versions from several sources, but there are also versions in Sam Henry's Songs of the People and Helen Creighton's Maritime Folk Songs. It's a Mohawk Minstrels song from the 1880s written by Harry Hunter, music by David Day.

Try searching for the following titles.
A Girl for all the Week
On Monday I met Mary Ann
The Six Sweethearts
Six Girls

Courting Six Girls at Once is a closely related song on the same theme.

No help from here, but reminiscent of I'll make a man of you from O What a Lovely War.

Cheers

While in Ireland this summer I heard a very funny song about a fellow who went with a different girl each day of the week, couldn't decide which to marry so married them all. Finally ends up in bed trapped between them and the wall. That's all I can recall, anyone got ideas?
