It was a fine concert! (no surprise). 41 concertgoers enjoyed Brian's music in an intimate shipboard atmosphere. The concert happened just a few days before the govt shutdown, or it would've had to been cancelled.

Thank you Brian, thanks to the San Francisco Maritime National Park Association for their support, and to Richard Adrianowicz for lending his guitar, which made Brian's traveling much easier.

Brian's English version of The Wild Rover is a gem - not the standard melody or hand-clapping pub version.

I'll give you for instance.......why you should go and see this guy.

Its no great secret to members of Mudcat that the words 'traditional' and 'in the tradition' - well if you'd been a regular at English folk clubs for fifty years, like I have, you really have sat through some hours of critically acclaimed crap under those banners.

brian really is the exception. he inhabits the songs...

I was listening to his version of the Banks of green Willow/House carpenter song. Its a song I'd sat through dozens of times.

Suddenly when Brian sang it, I UNDERSTOOD. That bit where the girl catches a glimpse of the cloven hoof under the villain's cloak. Its so right. There must have been a moment when Ted Bundy's or neville heath's victims realised they had entered a night mare - and the charming smiling seducer disappearedright in front of them.

I talked with brian about it afterwards and he said - yes - the old ballads had spooked him in a similar way - when he was away from home Long lankin had a simiar effect.

Check him out. You'll enjoy his work.

Pretty good guitarist as well! This guy is well worth you taking the trouble to catch his gig. He has an interesting and vivid way with traditional folksong. i've shared the stage with him a couple of times - Brian is fully deserving of everybody's respect and support. A very engaging musician and folksinger.

Seriously, Brian is one of the most talented and committed performers that I know and every performance is entirely from the heart (backed up by enormous knowledge and preparation).
