Subject: Pre Getaway gathering in Maine From: GUEST,SINSULL Date: 21 Sep 13 - 12:40 PM A number of Catters "from away" are gathering in Southern Maine so we thought it might be fun to get everyone together for a night of music and reunions. Leadfingers, Carole and Andrew will be at my place. Claire is with Kendall and Jacqui. I thought that Charmion and Edmund might stop over but I haven't heard from them. Anyway, it looks to be Wednesday October 2 about 7PM. Beer and light refreshments.I have to work the next day (not likely, I think) so you may be on your own to the wee hours. Who's in? SINS |

Carl, this is a fantastic bunch of people and it will be truly amazing to have them all in the same room. And they are why you need to pay more attention to Mudcat. I was actually just checking in to say that next week -- despite the PMFF being over -- is starting to get even crazier for us, with medical appointments, alas. But I think we need to try to make it -- a two hour drive is worth it, and we haven't seen you in South Portland (not to mention ClaireBear and Leadfingers) for way too long. Tom has a total blockage of the arteries in his left leg. That's why wounds won't heal. His vascular doc has been gathering enough information (all these tests) to see whether he can stent the artery -- or even, if necessary, do a bypass from the right leg. He's consulting with Tom's cardiologist who, thank goodness, is extremely conservative and cautious. I trust him completely. What they have to ascertain is if the benefit from this (for Tom) very risky procedure would be of enough benefit to be worth the risk. Tom is NOT a great candidate for surgery of any kind. It COULD kill him, but I don't think Tom's cardiologist will go for it if he thinks it's too risky. And the anesthesiologist has to weigh in as well. It's complicated... Anyway, we will try our damnedest to make it. Linn |

Took him to the vet this morning and they are not sure but at least it isn't a mouse stuck in his throat. Maybe asthma. Maybe a respiratory infection. He got some meds. As soon as he was home again, he ate, fooled around and begged to go out. I think I'll kill him. With no sleep last night I stayed home from work and took a nap while the Welsh guests wandered the neighborhood, stirred up the dogs and had directions to my house forced on them by an irritated neighbor. So, as much as we'd BOTH like to see everyone, I guess it's just not going to happen. Tom had enough trouble getting from the easy chair back into his wheelchair a little while ago -- and he didn't have his whistle with him to call me, but I happened to come into the room at the right time. (Thank goodness!) I just ordered 4 referee whistles with lanyards so he can have them at pertinent places (and around his neck). Have fun! Linn |
