Subject: Tech: Kindle Paperwhite and PDF From: MartinRyan Date: 09 Oct 13 - 10:01 AM Is anyone using a a Kindle Paperwhite device - in particular with PDF files? I have a standard Kindle (4?) with which I'm generally very happy. However - it is very clumsy at handling PDF files. Since my main use for the Kindle is to keep a library of old books (song-related and other) , many of which are freely available online, handling PDFs is important. Conversion of such texts to other formats is often very clumsy. My local store is out of stock - I think there's an improved version either just out or about to appear... so I can't experiment directly for now. Regards p.s. Incidentally, I use the Calibre freeware to organise my Kindle library - it's excellent. |

Subject: RE: Tech: Kindle Paperwhite and PDF From: Joe Offer Date: 10 Oct 13 - 10:54 AM My Kindle Fire works very well with *.pdf and *.doc files. The price of the basic Kindle Fire has gone way down. I'd recommend it. -Joe- |

I suspect that, purely as a reading device rather than a reader/tablet, the Paperwhite may suit me better. Hope to have a good look at both over the weekend in Dublin. Regards |
