Subject: Tech: Home-made ring tone? From: frogprince Date: 10 Oct 13 - 11:04 AM Can any of you geniuses tell me if the ring tones in an Iphone are in a sound file format that can be created on ye olde PC, and, if so, is there a way to get that file into the sound menu in the Iphone? |

Subject: RE: Tech: Home-made ring tone? From: Joe Offer Date: 10 Oct 13 - 11:21 AM I had trouble learning the bass part of "Gaudete," so I made a MIDI of it and used it as the ringtone for my phone. Some phones won't allow personal uploads of ringtones - they want you to buy something. -Joe- |

From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 10 Oct 13 - 03:41 PM It would be good if someone could look into the possibility of setting up a facility to buy some selected Mudcat ringtones. It could be a way of raising a little cash - and it'd be fun if when you maybe heard a phone going off you became aware of the presence of a Mudcat friendly person being phoned. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Home-made ring tone? From: JohnInKansas Date: 10 Oct 13 - 05:07 PM Our latest cell phones say that you can use .wav files for ring tones, but they've followed the Microsoft lead in assuming that only people too stupid to RTFM would buy their stuff, so they left the instructions for how to load one out of the book. It appears that at least one other music file format can be used, but they also don't say what that format might be. They don't like to confuse you with useful info, I guess ... ? John |
