It is not that often I can use the word 'gobsmacked' in earnest but this time I really can! Too early to say what my favourite track is yet but at first listen 'The Summer Lady' is up there, as is 'The Making of a Man and 'We shall wear midnight'. The latter brought a tear to my eye but I am not sure why yet! Long journey tomorrow and it shall be played through a half dozen times I guess.

I know this is all down to personal taste but, on first listen, the album I have enjoyed the most for many years. The lyrics will go over the heads of anyone that has not read the books but the music is excellent on it's own. I was a bit concerned about it being a 'concept album' in the sense of the prog rock concepts of the 70's but it is no such beast. Beautifully crafted while retaining Terry's humour and wit enough to ensure it is far from pretentious.

Certainly highly recommended by this Gnome.

Hiya,

& me too Dave, but songs [or in the worst cases entire cds] have always done that to me, sometimes to the point where it ends up not being worth playing them, as I cry so much I'm almost sick.
I think it's cos I know where Tiffany's coming from. I feel like I've got no life of my own ½ the time – so I write. I'm usually Aching all over.

Just seeing the words on the front of the TP book gets me thinking of the song. Could be a ref to SS eventually wearing midnight, ie no longer active ?? I hope not!!

'The Making of A Man' has me in tears too. I think it's the "water enough …..." line. I love my Merlin w/ all my ♥.

I'm looking forward to getting this for Xmas, but I really hope it won't end up as one of these cds.
