This is from the R. Crumb collection - Frank Stokes' version of this. The lyrics are less minstrely (to my mind) than either Ry Cooder's or Pink Anderson's and they have a real flow to them - but it's really hard to get them all. And the guitar is great - simple and beautiful.
IF YOU KNOW THAT VERSION - or if you have the CD and want to try deciphering it, I'd really appreciate it.
Here's what I have so far with (parens) around questionable stuff - if I could make a reasonable quess, there's a (word) inside, but if I have no idea then it's just (???). I included all the choruses because he does tham all differently. I also don't know if he's singing "goodies" or "good eats" in the chorus and either makes sense.

I Got Mine (Frank Stokes)

Said I went down to a little crap game Lord that was against my will
I lost every penny that I had in my pocket but a greenback dollar bill
I turned my head (get to shook my shoulders)
Thinkin I was way behind
But just as they jumped in the kitchen door, boys
I got mine

I got mine, I got mine
Stand round here tryin a get some (goody) all the time
Ever since then I been livin high
I been livin on the chicken and wine
Said I belong to the knockdown society but
I got mine.

Now when the turkey was brought in
(Then) the people all begin to grin
Now think about the good times all would have
They couldn't say exactly when
So the man got the turkey right by the nape but I swung on behind
He might thought he had the whole fowl and gone but
I got mine

I got mine, boys, I got mine
Around here tryin' a get some (good eat) all the time
Since then I been livin high
I been livin on the chicken and wine
Said I belong to the grab society but
I got mine.

So I went off to work early one morning
That (certainly) never did suit me
While the (????) and my old lady
Sittin on some other man's knee
So I (??) (my bailey) right across her head
And he jumped up and cryin'
Ah you can fright your old lady doggone your soul but
I got mine

I got mine, I got mine
Around here tryin' a get some (goodies) all the time
Said ever since then I been livin high
I been livin on the chicken and wine
Said I belong to the knockdown society but
I got mine.

I went uptown to a little crap game
(?) some other policemen (?)
The man looked at me never cracked a smile
I couldn't get this fellow to (a ?)
So he throwed the dice out on the floor
And the (thing?) got (fine?) like nine
But just as the police jumped in the back door, Lord
I got mine

I got mine, I got mine
Around here tryin' a get some (goodies) all the time
Since then I been livin high
I been livin on the chicken and wine
Said I belong to that knockdown society but
I got mine.

Wilf Carter sang one similar to this.

There should be enough on that page to clear up some of the holes, David. When the page opens scroll down a bit.

I have listened several times to a recording on Spotify. I have also studied the transcriptions made by various people who posted at the Weenie Campbell web site. This may not be perfect but it's the best I can do for now:

I GOT MINE
As recorded by Frank Stokes, 1928.

1. Then I went down to the little crap game; Lord, that was against my will.
I lost every penny that I had in my pocket but a greenback dollar bill.
I turned my head, [be]gin to shake my shoulders, thinkin' I's way behind,
But just as I jumped in the kitchen door, boys, I got mine.

CHORUS 1: I got mine; I got mine.
Standin' 'round here tryin' to get some'n' good t'eat all the time.
Ever since then I been livin' high; I been livin' on the chicken and wine.
Said I belong to the knockdown society but I got mine.

2. Now when the turkey was brought in, tell me the people all began to grin.
Now think about the good times all would have, they couldn't say exactly when.
So the man got the turkey right by the neck, but I swung on behind.
He might thought he had the whole fowl and gone, but I got mine.

CHORUS 2: I got mine, boys, I got mine.
Around here tryin' to get some'n' good t'eat all the time.
Since then I been livin' high; I been livin' on the chicken and wine.
Said I belong to the grab society but I got mine.

3. Then I went off to work early one mornin'; that's somethin' that never did suit me.
While a-peepin' through the crack, back in my old lady settin' on a some other man's knee,
Snatched off her veil wrapped across her head, and he(?) jumped up in cryin',
"You been fightin' your lady, doggone your soul, but I got mine."

CHORUS 3: I got mine; I got mine.
Around here tryin' to get some'n' good t'eat all the time.
Said ever since then I been livin' high; I been livin' on the chicken and wine.
Said I belong to the knockdown society but I got mine.

4. I went uptown to a little crap game, as some other police must say(?).
That man looked at me, never cracked a smile; I couldn't get this fella to laugh.
So he throwed the dice out on the floor, and the place(?) got fightin' like nine,
But just as the police jumped in the back door, Lord, I got mine.

CHORUS 4: I got mine; I got mine,
Around here tryin' to get some'n' good t'eat all the time.
Since then I been livin' high; I been livin' on the chicken and wine.
Said I belong to that knockdown society but I got mine.

[By the way, there is another thread about this song, which contains the lyrics from the sheet music published in 1901, and another version recorded by Pink Anderson, but they are not very helpful in deciphering Frank Stokes' version, which has been heavily folk-processed:

Lyr Add: I Got Mine (Pink Anderson).]

Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks also did this song. Sorta hot Folk Jazz Rock Swing style, in other words, typical Dan Hicks.

We have spent the last hr &1/2 singing and enjoying your versions of " I got mine". Twenty years ago, Dad did the same thing and recorded (privately), his version. I googled all this and Dad was astounded that other people were doing what he was doing all those years ago. He would love to talk to someone on the telephone about this but I explained to him that an open forum did not work that way. He is 80 something and doesn't like the computer. If one of you would write to cyberbiz90@gmail.com. I could obtain your phone #, that would make Dad very happy. If you are so inclined, please do it sooner than later as Dad is not well but still totally with it. Thank you so much, Danette
