Thanks, everyone! Very interesting and helpful information, esp. the turtleservices mp3, since this provides the melody. This the version we sang in the 1930s and I have no idea who wrote it and it was named after the Newspaper funnies Andy Gump and the characters in the script

The CARTER FAMILY theme is KEEP ON THE SUNNY SIDE.

A radio and recording duo from the 1920's, The Happiness Boys (Billy
Jones and Ernest Hare) sang the song given above.

Hi, does anyone have the melody (or a recording) for the Carter Family's "Howdy Do," which they used to sing at the beginning of their radio broadcasts? These are the lyrics:
