Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter sings 2013/4 From: Richard Bridge Date: 19 Feb 14 - 01:50 PM Right. Beer sorted. We are having a Sheps special weekend with: - (1) Amber Ale. A light coloured winter warmer. "A golden-brown ale with a fruity aroma and a full, malty palate, Amber Ale derives its unique signature from the special marriage of fruity, fragrant hops with Pale, Crystal and Brown malts, making it a classic beer to savour and enjoy. Tasting notes by Stewart Main" 4.5. (2) IPA. A hoppier job, but also with fruit and malt in the mix. Shepherd Neame say "Shepherd Neame's original recipe, the India Pale Ale followed in 1870. The beer style's origins are rooted in the creation of a heavily hopped beer that would withstand the rigours of arduous journeys to the colonies. A true IPA, it is full bodied, malty and balanced by a mouth-watering hoppy palate and a glorious fresh, spicy aroma. It is hopped at four stages of the boil, with two varieties of Kentish hops – Fuggles and East Kent Goldings." One more Winter Sing this year - since Easter is late. We are considering doing a Saturday or Sunday outside at the pub in the Summer with PA and open-mic - seeded with special invitees. Anyone interested? |

Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter sings 2013/4 From: GUEST,Don T. Date: 29 Dec 13 - 05:49 PM Went down the garden to empty the hoover and on the way back, slipped on a muddy patch and fell, landing with my left hand under me. The finger took the full impact and the knuckle end exited through the flesh at the joint. Four hours in A & E, x-rays, manipulation and a number of very neat stitches, and I now have a throbbing sea of pain demanding my full attention. So, nothing exotic! Sorry to disappoint! Don T |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter sings 2013/4 From: melodeonboy Date: 29 Dec 13 - 07:08 AM I might well be there! |

Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter sings 2013/4 From: Richard Bridge Date: 28 Dec 13 - 04:02 PM We shan't ask, Don, how such a strange finger injury might result... |
Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter sings 2013/4 From: GUEST,Don T Date: 28 Dec 13 - 01:45 PM I have managed to injure myself while stone cold sober (bloody annoying that), and by reason of a compound dislocation of the left index finger will be out of order for a couple of weeks. It's going to hurt like hell tomorrow, so I shall (regretfully) be absent. I should be back for the next one, with luck. Don T. |

Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter sings 2013/4 From: Richard Bridge Date: 25 Nov 13 - 04:36 AM That was fun! I seem to have a tupperware box with just a couple of plastic utensils in - not mine. I may find more as I hunt for the kitchen under the detritus. I broke the lid to one of my big pyrex casseroles. If anyone has broken their big pyrex casserole but still has the lid it would come in handy. More news as it happens! |

Subject: RE: Lower Stoke Winter sings 2013/4 From: Richard Bridge Date: 17 Oct 13 - 06:35 AM John Barden has identified possible problems for November and December - Namely "premiership" foopball on TV for morons (ie Sky). I will be seeing if the pub has the relevant channels and if it does then the November date may have to move and the December one cancel (since it is of the essence of the thing that it has to be between Xmas and new year). Watch this space. |
