Greetings from New York City!

As I have previously mentioned on Mudcat and elsewhere, my wife Marilyn and I will be visiting the UK in late October and early November 2013.

This is an invitation to an informal get-together for singing, jamming, and conversation on Saturday afternoon, November 2, beginning at 4:00 PM. We will meet in the lobby of the Tavistock Hotel in London. That's on the south side of Tavistock Square, just west of Woburn Place. That's close to the Russell Square tube station. We can take a break for dinner, after which we can reconvene, if people wish. Otherwise it will still be early enough to do whatever you would ordinarily be doing on a Saturday night.

Yes, the hotel has a bar.

So far, Terry Silver (Leadfingers) said he will join us, unless a last minute afternoon gig comes his way. Please let us know if we can count you in as well.

Richard,

I will be the guest at the FAB [Folk and Blues] Club at the White Hart pub in Grays on Sunday afternoon, October 27. I believe that is about a 30 mile drive if you cross the Thames near Thurrock, and it should take well under an hour each way.

The club starts at 2:30 PM. I understand that is the first day back on Standard Time. (In North America we do not revert until the following Sunday.)

Maybe we will finally get the chance to meet

Greeting from London,

Although Marilyn and I will be staying at the Royal National Hotel on November 2nd, our informal get-together at 4:00 PM will still be in the lobby of the Tavistock Hotel, which is just up the block and around the corner. The Tavistock, where we are currently staying, has a much more pleasant and intimate lobby.

I asked the fellow at the Tavistock Hotel desk if it would be OK to get together with a few friends in the lobby for some music and conversation, and he said it would be no problem. We should not get too raucous, however. Of course if we are true folkies we NEVER get too raucous.

Here is a big THANK YOU from Marilyn and me to everyone who came to our London get-together at the Tavistock Hotel yesterday, including Paul, Janet, John, Leadfingers, and SPB-Cooperator. While there might have been a little more conversation and a little less music than originally envisioned, we certainly enjoyed both. We even got in a chantey or two near the end, as well as an American freedom song that could get just as loud. The dinner at the nearby Greek restaurant made for a pleasant end to the evening.

Special note to Liz the Squeak: Marilyn and I really missed your presence. Lots of love from the two of us.

Sorry we missed you and Maggie. We got down to breakfast at about 9 AM, after most of the large groups had departed for the day. We have since checked out, and we are now waiting to take the tube to Heathrow for our flight back to New York.

Marilyn and I spent our final night of our UK trip at Sharps Folk Club in London, saying "hello" to old friends and making new ones. Right now we are getting ready for our flight back to New York this evening. Once again we would like to thank everyone who made this adventure so enjoyable.
