This request got lost in the "Barges" thread, so I moved it here. The song was relatively easy to find. I tried to e-mail the requester, but my message was returned.

UN FALCO VOLAVA

Un falco volava nel cielo un mattino
ricordo quel tempo quand'ero bambino
io lo seguivo nel rosso tramonto
dall'alto di un monte vedevo il suo mondo
e allora hea hea hea
e allora hea hea hea
hea hea hea hea hea
Fiumi mari e boschi senza confini
i chiari orrizzonti e le verdi colline
e quando partivo per un lungo sentiero
partivo ragazzo e tornavo guerriero (........)

Here's a longer version:

IL FALCO

Un falco volava nel cielo un mattino
ricordo quel tempo quando ero bambino
io lo seguivo nel rosso tramonto
dall'alto di un monte vedevo il suo mondo.

RIT.
E allora eha, eha eha ...
e allora eha, eha
eha, eha, eha, eha, eha, eha eh.

Fiumi mari e boschi senza confine
i chiari orizzonti e le verdi colline
e quando partivo per un lungo sentiero
partivo ragazzo e tornavo guerriero.

RIT.

Le tende rosse vicino al torrente
la vita felice tra la mia gente
e quando il mio arco colpiva lontano
sentivo l'orgoglio di essere indiano.

RIT.

Fiumi mari e boschi mossi dal vento
luna su luna i miei capelli d'argento
e quando era l'ora dell'ultimo sonno
partivo dal campo per non farvi ritorno.

RIT.

Un falco volava nel cielo un mattino
e verso il sole mi indicava il cammino
un falco che un giorno era stato colpito
ma no, non è morto, era solo ferito.

I don't usually post computer-generated translations, but the Google one ain't bad:

The Hawk

A hawk flying in the sky one morning
remember that time when I was a child
I followed him into the red sunset
top of a mountain I saw his world.

RIT.
E allora eha, eha eha ...
e allora eha, eha
eha, eha, eha, eha, eha, eha eh.

Rivers, seas and forests without border
the clear horizons and the green hills
and when I left for a long trail
was leaving boyfriend and I returned warrior.

RIT.

The red curtains near the river
happy life among my people
and when my bow struck away
I felt the pride of being Indian.

RIT.

Rivers, seas and forests blowing in the wind
on the moon moon my silver hair
and when was the last time that sleep
was leaving the field, never to return.

RIT.

A hawk flying in the sky one morning
and he pointed toward the sun the way
a hawk that had been shot in one day
but no, he's not dead, he was only wounded.

RIT.

2nd verse, last line, it's just "boy" (~I would leave as a boy and return as a warrior)

According to Scoutwiki, the song was written in 1971 by Franco Battiato and sung by "Osage Tribe", the Italian band he founded.
Also "...e quando era l'ora dell'ultimo sonno, partivo..." is ~"...and when the time of the last sleep came, I left..." and "...e verso il sole mi indicava il cammino..." is ~...and towards the sun, he pointed me the way..."
