An early American description of the (button) accordion said "it looks like a cash register and sounds worse".

That's right! The hurdy gurdy is a keyed food mincer!

No thats a nyckelharpa. Bagpipes and hurdy gurdies are an opportunity to go away for the weekend.

I've seen a review that described a hurdy gurdy as "a cross between a fiddle and a typewriter"!

From: Mr Happy
Date: 25 Oct 13 - 12:02 PM

This year's 'Audlem Bagpipe and Hurdy-Gurdy Day' will be held on Saturday 9th November at 12:00 in 'The Bridge' in Audlem, Cheshire.

As with previous years, all musicians and abilities are welcome for an afternoon of drone music.

Any prospective players, please come along and have a listen. If you think the hurdy-gurdy or the pipes (of various sorts and sizes) is the instrument for you, come along and talk to like-minded people. There will be at least one player who will allow beginners to have a try, so come and give it a go.

This event's not restricted to pipes & gurdies - other insts also welcome

Geoff Turner, Ian Bloor and John Hardy.
