Subject: RE: Folk Clubs in Bath Somerset From: GUEST,Squeezer Date: 30 Oct 13 - 06:53 PM I suppose you have looked at the Bath Folk Club website. If you have your own transport, there is a singaround every month at the Old Down Inn at Emborough BA3 4SA, about 13 miles SW of Bath on the junction of the A37 and B3139. The next is Nov 19, starts about 8.30. It's not a club, just a small gathering of singers who prefer Trad English. Friendly and intimate, and the Butcombes is good too. There are also folk/open mic/singer-songwriter sessions every 2nd Wednesday at the Wagon and Horses, Old Frome Road nr Shepton Mallet BA4 4LA, about 15 miles from Bath. Offhand I don't know which Wednesdays they are in November, but no doubt the pub staff can tell you if you phone them on 01749 880302. In addition, there are regular sessions, I think weekly, at The Swan in Bradford-on-Avon, but I'm afraid I don't know what evenings. The number there is 01225 868686. |

I would also recommend Acoustic Oak, every Thursday at the Royal Oak in Corsham; there is the Dragon FC at Shortwood every Friday; Devizes runs every Monday at the Lamb. Have a look at Mr Red's website which gives quick links to these and many more. Henry |
Subject: RE: Folk Clubs in Bath Somerset From: GUEST,Squeezer Date: 30 Oct 13 - 09:43 PM Just remembered Fridays at The Bridge Inn, Main Road, Shortwood, Bristol BS16 9NG. Going up the A4174 (the Bristol Ring Road)from the direction of Bath, turn off at the 6th roundabout and then 1st right. Club is in a room on the righthand side of the pub. It's acoustic, mainly English trad. |

Subject: RE: Folk Clubs in Bath Somerset From: Mr Red Date: 02 Nov 13 - 09:07 AM All of Mr Red's entries within 20 Km of Bath though do look at the update date. And play with the grid refs, post codes and "how soon" - it knows some data for "alt" datums (sic.) The Bath Folk Club is, to all intents and purposes, no more. |
