I know the Pilot exists but is there anything else?

There's no folk club at The Pilot any more, but the Starks hold a mixed session at The Old House At Home in Pudding Lane. It's on either the fourth or the last Monday of the month - blowed if I can remember which!

Thank you. Shame it's Monday, but might be worth a nose. Is the disco downstairs any quieter these days?

You're not generally disturbed by any noise from downstairs. And they sometimes hold it in the main bar. You usually get really nice stew and mash provided as well!

I think the sessions at 'The Swan' in County Road are still held by Norman Brooks on the first Monday of the month.

There are folk nights concerts at The Bower just off Tonbridge Road. Not really participatory though, if that's what you're looking for.

On the third Sunday of the month, at the Walnut Tree on Tonbridge Road, there is a very well attended mixed song and tune session, led by Penny the fiddler.

Regular attenders include Brooksy, myself, Poetry Bird and Ian Petrie.

Come early for that one, as the licensees adhere to the ancient 10.30pm closing on Sundays. Kick off is about 8.00pm

The Swan really needs a few more performers, as sometimes there are only three or four.

A quick Google does not show any details of folk events at the Bower - any idea how I find out? Maybe they have a facebook page?

The Bowerhouse does have a Faceache page. They put on concerts. They have some good artists on there. I don't think there are floor spots, but I may be wrong.

EVENTUALLY found the faceache page after some rummaging. I can't see any events spreading from that page. I found one event page of an electric band called "Zeus" playing there - probably metal with a name like that. I've sent a fiend request and if it is accepted I will message them (no point in messaging otherwise, it'll just go into the well hidden "other" box). Or I could have another go at phoning them later today - they did not answer yesterday. Don't people make things difficult?

Musically, they're two different venues, Richard, even though they're in the same building. The pub itself - The Bower Inn - puts on mainly rock and covers bands. The folk venue (The Bowerhouse), which is round the back I believe, hosts folk artists roughly once a month. You can buy beer in the pub and take it into the venue. (I thought that last piece of information might be of interest to you! :-) )

Richard - it's here https://www.songkick.com/venues/2191359-bower-house

but it does look like a booked artist venue. Dean Taino knows something about it.
