Apologies for the post and run, folks, was just on the road for 12 hours--in other words, an easy Friday. I do look in at le Cat somewhat more often than I post, these days. Hello to all my old friends... W-o |
Subject: RE: Apostate gets electric mandolin! From: Will Fly Date: 01 Nov 13 - 09:17 AM I fancied one of these little beasts, but chose to commission one from a luthier friend of mine. I asked for a 5-string version, making it a hybrid "mandotenor"! You can see and hear it in action at: Will Fly - "As Time Goes By" Not exactly traditional, but shows off some aspects of the instrument... |
Subject: Apostate gets electric mandolin! From: Willie-O Date: 31 Oct 13 - 09:35 PM Hello all, I haven't been around of late, but I have been pursuing some new musical channels. I spend a lot of my time learning and playing Cape Breton tunes, mostly on my Eastman 505 mandolin but I've been having this itch...and last week I scratched it and got myself a 4-string Fender Mando-Strat. You can judge for yourself...I think its a pretty cool sound and its fun to play, warning, Wah-Wah is part of my definition of fun. Bill Cameron's YouTube Channel I find the amped-up electric sound goes well with Cape Breton music's energy... There's some other stuff there too, most of which features more approved acoustic instruments...enjoy! w-o |
