Subject: For DESPERATE Sale: Guitar, Baggs preamp, mandolin

I've got a D'Agostino acoustic/electric guitar. Late 80s/early 90s.

Has a pickup installed but it is TOTALLY PASSIVE. There are no onboard electronics at all. It's just an endpin jack to the pickup. That way, you can use whatever outboard preamps or processors you want, such as:

My L.R. Baggs acoustic preamp. the Para Acoustic DI. Wonderful tone-shaping controls, XLR out. Runs on 9V battery.

I've also got a Galveston mandolin. Teardrop shape, great tuners, decent action. Needs new strings, but otherwise plays well and has a good tone and good volume. No electronics. It's not an "A style" mandolin, it has an oval soundhole and is closer in appearance to a mariachi mandolin or a cittern. It is, however, an 8-string mandolin tuned the usual way.

I'm asking $250 shipped in a hardshell case (ugly but functional) for the guitar, $100 shipped for the preamp in its original box and $75 shipped for the mandolin. No case or bag, but will be professionally packed.

I will also do all three together for $375 shipped.

All these prices assume shipping to the Continental US. I will ship internationally, but we'd have to work out an agreement on splitting the shipping costs if possible.

Thanks. Really in a bind here.

Make me an offer. The guitar is one I was given and I have permission to sell it to pay my emergency expenses.

I will sell the mandolin for $60 shipped in the US. I just don't need a mandolin as badly as I need the cash.

The Baggs preamp retails for $160 new. Mine is in perfect working and cosmetic condition.

Interested parties in the US can make whatever offer you want, provided you factor in shipping costs from 08902 in New Jersey.

International buyers, I have to say that shipping to your locales is probably going to be prohibitive for you. Shipping a guitar in a large hardshell case could easily cost $100 US or more to a UK destination.

I'm willing to deal with anyone who's interested, though, so don't hesitate. We can work something out. Thanks!

Love yo see a picture of the guitar, BBS. What kind of action, tone and sound does it have?

Here's a link to a picture of

One just like mine

The action is medium. Not terribly high at the 12th fret; by now, it could probably use a setup. Truss rod works great.

The tone is very woody, with lots of bass and solid mids. Plugged straight into an amp or PA with no preamp, you'd have to raise the channel gain quite a bit, but you'd be getting a very organic and unprocessed tone. With a good preamp and tone-shaping, you can get anything from a typical dreadnought-style booming rhythm tone to a James-Taylor-esque singer/songwriter midrange tone with lots of sparkly high end.

Tuners are vintage Grovers. The neck is a little wider than some other D-size guitars I've played. It's a comfortable "D" shape, not too thick.

I loved playing this guitar, but it's not worth keeping if I lose my car. I barely made the last $260 payment by the skin of my teeth. If I were to make the next payment right now, I wouldn't have a dime to my name at all. I've got nine days to figure out how to make something happen.

If you PM me I can give you my personal email address so we can talk further.

Getting desperate...

Guitar - $225 shipped in the CONUS with the case. $200 without
(or best offer).

I'll sell the L.R, Baggs preamp for $80 shipped.

The mandolin is now $60 shipped.

NOTE: If anyone in the NJ/Philly area has either a Shure SM57 or a Shure 545 or other Unidyne series microphone they'd trade or sell me, please let me know ASAP. Thanks.

Really need to purchase an amplifier so my band can get to work.

These items are not needed; cash is.

Make an offer. If it gets me anywhere near what I need to make, I'll sell.

Thanks!
