The recipe looks very much like Buckfast. It dates from shortly before Stonehenge was built.

Now you know how they lifted those stones.

Thanks for the link, Jack. That's interesting. I never thought of the ancients as people who would use herbs, etc, in their wine. This reminds me of an embroidered saying that a neighbor had in her kitchen when I was a child.
