Subject: RE: The Rocky Road to … somewhere else From: Alan Woods Date: 07 Dec 13 - 07:38 AM Thanks Martin, I have lyrics for the 'The Bansha Peelers' but I'm not overly familiar with the air.......there seems to be no versions of it on YouTube but I'll dig into my own collection to see if I have a recording tucked in some nook. Brennan on the Moor! Thanks Mrrzy I hadn't thought of it 'Paddy Works on the Railway' and 'The Hot Asphalt' have occurred to me since as being in a similar vein |
Subject: RE: The Rocky Road to … somewhere else From: GUEST,Peskymeme Date: 09 Dec 13 - 11:07 PM Rocky Road to Dublin is a unique ballad. I have heard Foggy Dew played that way, although usually more of a mournful lament. I would mostly agree with Brennan on the Moor. Even Star of the County Down can be played with that rhythm, although the idea of the lyrics is much different. Another possibility would be to energize Banna Strand a little and see how that turned out. |
