Most of the banjo players I've known have seemed to think that they don't have a real banjo until they've customized it with parts from about that many. Maybe the whole lot could make ONE decent one (or as decent as a banjo can get).

So hoiw much did you bid?

(Or maybe you shouldn't tell until after the sale. Somebody might use the info to outbid ya.)

John

I thought the thread title referred to an out-take from "Tubular Bells".

I can just hear Vivian Stanshall's voice - "eight distressed banjos".

Eight distressed banjos!
Hangin' on the wall.
Eight distressed banjos!
Hangin' on the wall.
And if one distressed banjo
Should accidentally fall...

Complete according to taste.

BANJOS? I thought this was in the music section! :)

Eight dis-stessed banjos,
Seven fretless guitars
Six soured sackbuts
Five man-do-lins

I leave the rest to others!

Sad, isn't it, Pete? and - d'you know - I'm getting an urge to prize my tenor banjo from its case this morning. Perhaps I should call BA (Banjos Anonymous).

If you don`t like banjos you could always take the necks of them and play them as bodhrans...

If you don`t like banjos you could always take the necks off them and play them as bodhrans...
Does that make them more or less musical?

Hold tight brother be strong! I'll confess addiction to my 1928 Vega banjo with a tree of life mother of pearl inlay down the neck. I'll repent too. Halleluleja, praise de lord, ah now bin saved!

Cheers,

Andrez

A bodhran ThoughtfullyPlayed is a rare and wonderful thing (yes it is, don't argue) please note I did say RARE.. It's the unpractised clowns who think it's just another thing to bash the hell out of, that are the problem. As in so many other areas of life...
Ditto, a banjo.
