The Irish Traditional Music Archive has another intriguing Advent calendar this year?

Thanks for the link, Martin. I plan to send in a MIDI of today's item, 'Miss Hooligan's Christmas Cake.'

Never mind. I see that it is already in the DT as 'Miss Fogarty's Christmas Cake.' The chorus, especially, is a charming tune.

Yes - at our monthly singing session in Kinvara last night we had several cake-songs, including a local one composed (baked?) by the great piper, pipe maker, singer, songwriter Eugene Lambe!

Regards

Thanks, Martin. Gosh, but that's a rip-snorting tune! I have saved a version of it that I downloaded from the 'Hymns and Carols of Christmas' site.

I see on that site that the song came from Dorset (published in 1926), but I am amazed at its similarity to shape note songs from the American south.
