Take a look at the beautiful photo Judy has just put up on her Facebook page, of her wishing happy birthday to Stephen Stills.

Still gorgeous after all these years -

Bonnie Shaljean, I can't remember that bit about Sandy Denny ( but then at my age there are quite a few things I don't remember!) I note that one of her LPs (that I haven't got) went by that title. I'm guessing it would be about 1969 - 1970, my lat couple of years in London.

I just watched it too. It was lovely and a pleasure to hear her. The first album I ever bought, back in the 60s, was one of hers, and I've been a fan ever since. I have gotten to see her live several times over the decades, but the last time was probably 5 years ago, so the opportunity to catch this concert was wonderful. So, so glad you started this thread!

I recall her having a female drummer years ago. I was such a purist in those days, and didn't like drums very much, but with Judy as the singer it was fine. My musical horizons have broadened in the last decade or so.

I also saw her at the Albert Hall in (I think it must have been) 1969. It was after Who Knows Where the Time Goes album was out which I see is Nov 1968. I think I remember several things - she had a female drummer; she sang Turn Turn Turn as her encore or at least very late in the programme; she completely forgot the words to one of the songs - promptly stopped, went to have a word with the drummer - and then started again. I remember enjoying it enormously.

Still an influence from way back then and over the last week have sung with my wife and a band we are getting together - My Father, In My Life and Who Knows Where the Time Goes - all with a nod back to her influence and arrangements. At some point or another played loads of things from the album I bought with Anathea, Winter Sky, Early morning Rain etc on from then.

I heard her in Newport, too, but also at the now-defunct Warwick Musical Theater which was a much smaller venue. I think I heard her in Providence, too, but I can't remember where.

Over the years I've seen Judy at Newport, Carnegie Hall, Central Park, and all over Massachusetts. She's never given anything but a stellar performance.

I \ve seen her a few times but not recently. It's nice to know that she is performing more often.

Tattie - I wonder if that was the same Royal Albert Hall gig that I saw her at? She name-checked Sandy Denny from the stage, then launched into Who Knows Where The Time Goes, less well-known then than it later became (thanks in no small part to Judy). Lovely lady. I first saw her at a peace rally in (?) Kezar Stadium in SF, when she was still pretty much unknown. She blew me away. Still does.

Have always loved her singing and choice of songs, and had several of her earlier LPs: saw her live in the Royal Albert hall in London years ago: then a very long gap until I saw her in Glasgow a couple of years or so back. Very elegant, but so much slighter and thinner than I remember her- a tiny lady with a huge 12-string guitar, or a concert grand piano - but still that wonderful voice. (And not TOO loud, Leenia!)

Zhenya: When they sold out the two Freight and Salvage shows a few days ago , it was posted on Concert Window. Enjoy.

Thanks so much for posting this! It must be very newly added to the Concert Window listing. I have their email from 12/8 with concert listings, and also checked the site a few days ago and this wasn't on it. I'm definitely going to try and watch. I'm glad it's on a Saturday, because I'm on NY time, and those Freight and Salvage concerts seem to go (wonderfully) long.

Leenia: Sound quality is never a problem at the Freight and Salvage. They have excellent sound people. When I was running concerts for an all volunteer folk club many years back, it was touch and go with the sound. Wish I'd had the F and S folks.

A long time ago, I went to see her on the campus of the University of Kansas. The show was so loud I couldn't stand it, and we had to leave. People were shouting from the audience about the loudness, but nobody did anything.

I admire her singing and wish her well, but I hope she's grown more knowledgeable about sound by now.

I was able to see her back when I lived in Texas. Excellent show. I'm up in north Georgia now and it would be nice if she came to Atlanta someday.

Boy, I wish I could be at that concert. I think she'd be terrific at a small venue like The Freight. I had tickets for a Judy Collins concert in Sacramento once, but she had throat problems and had to cancel. She had serious problems with her throat for a number of years, but I believe she has resolved that.

I've always enjoyed the music of Judy Collins, when she was billed as a folk singer, and later on when her repertoire became more eclectic. Saw her a few years ago, and she still had chops. I presume she's still worth a look, because she's working more than she has in recent years. Anyhow, Judy's doing a concert Saturday night at the Freight and Salvage in Berkely, Ca. 11 p.m. EST. The show is sold out but available live on line via Concert Window. I'm really looking forward to it. Perhaps I'm overly enthusiastic, because we now reside in the middle of Nowhere, Ga., but maybe someone out there is interested.
