A very singable song - but so short!

I've heard many people try to add a verse or two - and mostly the outcome was ghastly. I did once hear Fiddlefit (from Gravesend) do an additional verse written I think by Will in the band that I thought OK, but I never got around to asking for the words.

Has anyone come across any decent extra words for the song and if so would they kindly post them?

Why would you want to extend this lovely song? the art of songwriting is editing...telling the story ..this is what Jimmy McCarthy has done with this great piece of work... Yes Bridge, we have come across decent words for the song..all written by the Man Jimmy..if you knew anything about verse and songwriting you wouldn't be asking such a stupid, smug, unfeeling question.

Why is it that when someone writes a song, that some judgmental prick..or prickess has to come along, thumb stuck up their bum and mind in neutral, stroking their wispy beards and go.." well, what he/she really meant to say was this , or that or if he/she had been less constipated that morning and more focused they would have probably gone....My ancient cultured arse!!

If yer wanna be a song writer go away and write yer own, orleave true genius like Jimmy to show you the way.

Never thought much of the song myself but, if you like it, quantity doesn't beat quality. If it's too short, play an instrumental break and sing all or part of it again.

Well now, concerened ma belle, as it happens I fully agree with you about Jimmy. Genius and poet up right up there with Shane. A pity that only you, me and Christy see it.

It wouldn't hurt any of you to spell his name correctly.

Jimmy MacCarthy

I was OK with "Jimmy", though, eh?
