Subject: Anyone in the Grenadines(Caribbean)?? From: greg stephens Date: 25 Dec 13 - 03:28 PM I am heading for the Caribbean and will be pottering around the Grenadines(probably) in the middle couple of weeks of January (2014). In a sailing boat with the Boat Band aboard (fiddle, button accordion, guitar, flute etc). Anybody got any musical contacts, knowledge of suitable small venues who might like a bit of trad acoustic Irish/British/whatever tunes and songs? Have heard talk of fiddlers on Carriacou and Petite Martinique so will try to head there. Looking to hear music, and make music. Probably in the region Grenada to St Vincent, maybe Barbados too. But we intend to stick to small places. All information would be very very welcome |

Subject: RE: Anyone in the Grenadines(Caribbean)?? From: GUEST Date: 29 Dec 13 - 06:53 AM Hi, I just recently moved back to the states from the Grenadines (specifically Union Island). I'm not sure how much interest the locals on Union Island have in fiddling--but you could ask at Lambi's hotel and Clifton Beach Hotel, which are both small venues that sometimes do live music (mostly pan). Those are also your best chances to hear live music. If you just want to jam, I'd definitely recommend Twilight Eclipse Bar (it's right on the harbor), quite a few times I've seen people sit down with a guitar there for the night and just play for everyone. Bequia has an annual music festival, so it will probably be the Grenadine island with the most interest/live music. I can't really point you at anything specific there, but that's where you should focus your attention. (Also, I just want to note that I came upon this thread because I have a google alert out for the Grenadines.) any other general questions, you can email me at brettmburk@gmail.com |
Subject: RE: Anyone in the Grenadines(Caribbean)?? From: Catamariner Date: 29 Dec 13 - 07:31 PM Nope, in Charlotte Amalie and Red Hook, St. Thomas. Your boat band passing through here? Got a NYE gig? Ah needs mah folkie fix. Else: fair winds, following seas, try tuning up at an anchorage and see what musical sailors drop over in their dinks! |
