Hello from Melbourne Australia.
I just found some of your songs on GrooveShark. I wasn't sure it was you until I heard the first bar...!

I was at a Peggy Seeger concert when she visited Melbourne in 2012 and reminded her that we'd met before about forty years earlier.
She looked at me through my beard and said 'Cardiff Folk Club?'
Remember me Roy?
I was the young bloke (Now 70)from Birmingham who used to help on the door both at the Estonian club and later at the Legion.
We both left Cardiff in 1964 and I guess that's how we lost touch.
I live in Melbourne now and for the last 30 years.

There are many folkies in San Diego who "came up" under Sam's tutelage and inspiration. He founded the San Diego Folk Song Society in 1957b "o encourage the local community of musicians to gather and share their music. " It still meets and swaps songs once a month.

I had the pleasure of singing at his last San Diego birthday party a few years back. The crowd rocked out to "Lay Down My Sword and Shield" and other favorites. am was wheelchair bound but his smile was as wide as ever and he whispered the words allt he way through.

I sang in San Diego a couple of times courtesy of my old friend Johnnie Walker. Sadly now, the late Johnnie Walker. I believe he was a big influence on the scene there. I enjoyed my concerts in S D,I'd really like to sing there again.

The godfather of the San Diego Scene was unquestionably my dear friend, Sam Hinton.
I gave my first concert for him in 1952 at San Diego State College. He was so knowledgeable about so many things, a renaissance man if there ever was one, biologist, oceanographer,
educational administrator, calligrapher and graphic artist and one of the best folksinger
and folklorists around. The San Diego folk scene has to be his legacy.
