Mr. West has a reputation for lying to get attention as does the original poster on this thread. If you want to come up with facts and figures independent of Wests' then please start a new thread and we can discuss them rationally. But I will not waste my time giving dishonest attention grabbers the attention that they crave.

If you want to address issues that "demand addressing" I would suggest that it is better not to continue discussions that do not deserve attention.

Yes, I agree Jack, but the issue is separate from the character of the messenger.

The issue does seem serious if it has been reported properly, there should not be different laws for different races, or different skin colours.....that is the start of a downward spiral in the justice system.

Personally, I don't think President Obama is at all racist, this is another product of "liberalism", political correctness, call it what you will, but it is setting an extremely dangerous precedent.

This is a common tactic, and nothing to do with "racism", which is another smoke screen in this case.
To say that we must not disproportionately punish minorities, is like saying we should not target "at risk" groups for HIV testing.

It is an idiotic stance. Each criminal act, or case of antisocial behaviour should be dealt with not through the prism of colour or race but by addressing the individual concerned.

In a commentary posted Tuesday on his website, West, who represented Florida in Congress after an extended career in the U.S. military, confronted the issue of racism.

Citing Obama Attorney General Eric Holder's warning that schools must drop policies that "disproportionately punish minorities," West asserted it's not racist to punish blacks more when they are causing more trouble.

West said the violence on campus "was perpetrated eight out of 10 times by black students, male and female, but it had nothing to do with racial disparity."
