Hi, I miss the second sentence of this song by Riley Puckett. I submit that I have found so far. Can someone help me? Thanks in advance!

Each night, I sat beside the campfire dreaming

                                          across the sea

And as I watch the amber soflty bleeming

I always picture in my memory

Moonlight on the river Colorado

How I wish that I were there with you

As I sit and find each lonely shadow

Takes me back to days that we once knew

We were to wed in harvest time you said

That's why I'm longing for you

When it's moonlight on the Colorado

I wonder if you're waiting for me too

Sweetheart, do you recall the night we parted?

Beneath the moonlight on the river shore

Each time I see the moon, I'm broken hearted

Just longing to return to you once more

We were to wed in harvest time you said

That's why I'm longing for you

When it's moonlight on the Colorado

I wonder if you're waiting for me too

A lovely old song- can't see much difference in lyrics from other versions- Slim Whitman, etc.

Where may I hear the song done by him?

A flat guess at the first stanza/intro you have posted makes me think it might be

Each night, I sit beside the campfire dreaming

_______________________ across the sea

And as I watch the amber softly gleaming

I always picture in my memory

(I'd expect it to be in either past or present tense, but somewhat consistent.)

Here's how I hear the first verse:

Each night, I sit beside the campfire dreaming
In England's hills and dales across the sea,
And as I watch the embers softly gleaming,
I always picture in my memory—

Lyr. Add: MOONLIGHT ON THE COLORADO
Music Robert A. King, lyrics by Billy Moll, 1930

CHORUS: Moonlight on the river Colorado,
How I wish that I were there with you.
As I sit and pine, each lonely shadow
Takes me back to days that we once knew.
We were to wed in harvest time, you said.
That's why I'm longing for you.
When it's moonlight on the Colorado,
I wonder if you're waiting for me too.

1. Each night I sit beside the campfire dreaming
In England's hills and dales across the sea,
And as I watch the embers softly gleaming,
I always picture in my memory: CHORUS

2. Sweetheart, do you recall the night we parted,
Beneath the moonlight on the river's shore?
Each time I see the moon, I'm broken-hearted,
Just longing to return to you once more. CHORUS

Hi
Thanks! I would never have found it myself...
Great club you seem to have Q! And thanks for the sheet music, you save me time to find the chords, although it is not very difficult for this song...

The song was very popular in Calgary. Up to about 1960, residents of UK could come to Canada almost without formalities. Our local government hired them, so that the city soon had English engineers and other workers designing our rapidly expanding roadways and subdivisions. Some of the new 'freeways' didn't seem to help traffic flow and a local joke was- "Oh, just British engineering'.
Of course road work was always playing catch-up with a rapidly expanding city, and inadequacy would have been charged to any design.

You can see why 'England's hills and dales across the sea' would invoke thoughts of home in immigrant UK community.
