Subject: Lyr Req: A song for Annie
From: GUEST

A friend of mine asked me if I knew the words to a song he called "A song for Annie".

I had never heard of it, and asked if he meant John Denver's Annie's Song, but he said no.

What he remembers of the opening lyrics are:

Here's a song about Annie
Annie O'Neil
And a song for the sailor
Who loved her so dear

I've done some looking and can't seem to find it.

Anyone heard of it or know the words?

It might help if your friend could provide more information.

What type of song was it? (Ballad, love song, song about the sea, etc)
What type of music was it? (Rock, folk, a capella, etc)
When did your friend hear it? (Year, decade, etc)
Where did your friend hear it? (Radio, record, club, etc)

The lyrics as put here are no help as you well know.

Thank you.

Sorry for the vagueness.

The song was a folk tune, song of the sea style. He heard it sometime in the last 20 years I believe, and it was on the radio, in Canada at least.

Thank you.

PS The vagueness: it's much more info than many people leave :-)
