Subject: Lyr Req: All-American Dog
From: Joe Offer
Date: 28 Jan 14 - 04:16 PM

I got an e-mail requesting lyrics and information on this song. Can anyone help?
    I remember a song I heard, maybe in the 1970s or 80s. I searched the lyrics archive and didn't find it. I would like to post a thread to see if anyone remembers it. I'm not a musician, but I really would love to find a recording of this song. It goes something like this:

    I stand two feet tall
    Weigh 38 pounds,
    My teeth are yellow,
    my eyes are brown.

    Wo-hooooooo,
    I'm an all-American dog.

    I promise to be a good citizen, not pester anyone, and only come around when this or some equally arcane song gets stuck in my head.

    Thanks!
    Aileen Curfman

Oh, I DID find it:

AMERICAN DAWG
(Neal Gladstone)

I stand 2 foot 3, I weigh 29 pounds,
My teeth are yellow and my eyes are brown;
I got a four-inch nose stickin' out of my face,
And if you're lookin' for trouble, you come to the right place, 'cause

CHORUS
I'm an American dog: DAWG
I'm man's best friend, so you better not mess with me.

I was born in an alley in the freezin' cold,
My mama left me when I was six weeks old;
My daddy was a drifter till he ran outa luck,
Had a difference of opinion with a Chevrolet truck.
CHORUS

The neighborhood ladies, they know what I got;
My nose may be cold but my blood is hot;
Don't put me on a leash, I don't like to be confined,
'Cause I'm the 7th son in a litter of nine.
CHORUS

You better feed me good, you better treat me right,
Or I'll pee on your rug, and I'll bark all night;
I'm an American dog, that's the way I am;
Don't give me none of that dry food--I like the stuff in the can.
CHORUS

I got the lyrics from one of those view/listen-at-your-own-risk Websites, so I won't make a link of it:
http://www.audiosparx.com/sa/summary/play.cfm/crumb.12/crumc.0/sound_iid.471977

download cost is $68.95.....such a deal.
