Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: gnu Date: 07 Feb 14 - 01:59 PM Missed the following post earlier somehow... "Tom's and my "first date" was to a show at Mast Cove gallery where all the drawings were of me...starkers." Now, I've heard many wooing stories but THAT takes the cake!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: Bill D Date: 07 Feb 14 - 11:21 AM I did 2 nights as a model for a drawing class 50 years ago. As Charmion says, it was tiring and cool. They made male models wear the tiniest of briefs.. (it WAS Kansas!).. which made me feel 'nuder'. I only had 2 sessions because they said the students found most male bodies to be too 'easy' to draw.... too many straight lines. (They paid $5 an hour, which was a good wage back then... more than I was making at the grocery store.) (and Bobert... give your lady the best wishes from Rita & I. I am really glad we had the pleasure of meeting her several times.) |
Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: GUEST Date: 07 Feb 14 - 10:44 AM Hey, gnu, LOL! Hey, Rap, I reckon Charmion was Picasso's model on the quiet! Tell you something, guys, those life classes are bloody hard work. Bet Bobertz has done a few in his time. |
Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: frogprince Date: 07 Feb 14 - 08:26 AM Linn, that reminds me of somethin'. Thirty years ago I was a member of a camera club in Chicago for several years. One evening one of the woman members brought in the only photo of a full-frontal nude male that anyone ever remembered being entered in competition. Shortly after that she married the model. It always amused me a little, just because of the switch from "traditional" artist-model narratives. |
Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: Rapparee Date: 07 Feb 14 - 01:13 AM One of her eyes is in the back of her head. And it's square, except where it's more of a Klein bottle. That gives her three, and provides for introspection. |
Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: gnu Date: 06 Feb 14 - 07:14 PM "eyes don't match"???? |
Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: Bat Goddess Date: 06 Feb 14 - 03:41 PM Hey, Charmion...did I know that? Back when I was a hundred pounds younger I modeled for two drawing groups, one in Kennebunkport, the other in North Berwick, Maine (Pat and Dewitt Hardy, Lincoln Perry, George and Dadee Burke...). Tom's and my "first date" was to a show at Mast Cove gallery where all the drawings were of me...starkers. A friend of mine went through massive problems and aggro with her breast reconstruction. Wish P-Vine the best! Linn |
Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: Amos Date: 06 Feb 14 - 02:57 PM Hell, Bobert, you don't have to show up often, but don't go abandoning vital communication lines, you old gasbag! :D Tons of love to you and the PVine as well. And the hordes. A |
Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: Charmion Date: 06 Feb 14 - 01:34 PM I worked as a life model when I was in university. The gig paid relatively well (for a university job), but I found it both chilly and tiring. Also, the students complained that my eyes don't match. Of course, that's one of the main reasons why the instructor hired me -- the other was my "matte skin". All in all, modelling is a great way to feel like several dozen body parts flying in close formation. |

Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: GUEST, topsie Date: 06 Feb 14 - 04:06 AM If I had a choice between drawing an old bike and drawing a naked woman, I would find the bike much more interesting. Good one, Bobert. |
Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: Stilly River Sage Date: 06 Feb 14 - 12:30 AM Well, if you ever do decide to master some of those recordings you said you wanted to but didn't get around to, I'm game to work on another cover and disk. I've worked on a lot more projects since then, and have enjoyed learning more tricks of the trade. That's funny about the bike. :) SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: Bobert Date: 05 Feb 14 - 08:50 AM Onward and upward for the P-Vine... She got 2 of the 3 drains out yesterday and the last one comes out next week... Hooray... I've gotten pretty good at nursing and cooking and cleaning and driving and, and... Had a great gig last night in uptown Charlotte at the Myers Park Library... Very intimate with about 30 folks in the audience... It was more a blues workshop as in the 1 hour program it was half music and half stories... Sold half a dozen or so CDs... Another CD??? Nah... I think I'm done recording 'um... They are fun but, hey... They are a lot of work, too... Lastly, the drawing class... I have 7 students, age 14 to about 65, and I'm working 'um pretty good... I knew I was going to teach it when I was at an estate sale and the drug an old "Sears" bike out of the barn... Probably late 1940's... So I bought it for 5 or 6 bucks and told the class that I would be bringing in a model on the 3rd class named Samantha Sears who would be modeling sans the clothes... Had the bases loaded with them... They really thought it was going to be a nude model... They are enjoying Samantha... B~ |

Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: Jack the Sailor Date: 04 Feb 14 - 05:03 PM Guest, I wasn't trying to be nasty to you. Sorry if it seemed that way. I thought I had made my point in a pretty neutral way once you responded. Gnu, I think you see now why I try to ignore Greg F? He pushes buttons and makes trouble. |
Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: GUEST,Ed T Date: 04 Feb 14 - 04:44 PM What I often wonder whatever happened with Rapaire, the lost soul??? He seemed to have abandoned and given up on Mudcat - likely in protest 'cause all the old folks (aka folkies) forgot how to cuss, complain and protest in lyric-song and chosingbto air the "vile stuff" in messages via the keyboard , a poor instrument for expressing oneself :) |
Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: GUEST,Giok Date: 04 Feb 14 - 04:22 PM Being nasty to folks is just fine and dandy Of course, one needs to make allowances for who's being nasty, and to whom. |
Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: Greg F. Date: 04 Feb 14 - 03:41 PM But of course, gnuzer, in your world, Jack being nasty to Guest is perfectly OK. |
Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: gnu Date: 04 Feb 14 - 02:47 PM Sorry, JtS. But, I have been this way forever. When anyone is nasty to anyone, especially a friend, I tend to fly off the handle. I promise u it won't happen until the next time. |
Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: Rapparee Date: 04 Feb 14 - 02:21 PM I've "spoken" with him. He's studying the the blues at Central State -- Prison. Picked up some good stuff and that's why he's in the slammer. But he's wailin' the blues better than ever before, until Bull tells him where that blues harp is gonna end up unless he learns to play something besides "Red River Valley." You know that I'd never, ever fib about Bobert. |

Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: Pete Jennings Date: 04 Feb 14 - 06:41 AM Best wishes to the P-Vine from me too, Bobz, and hope you're enjoying the gigs (and the beers!). How'd you get on with the drawing classes? Funnily enough, after doing my MA and having my head stuffed full of conceptual crap, and after 12 months getting it out of my system, I've just taken up my brushes again and am not far from completing a PAINTING! Well, four, actually. Me and an erstwhile fellow student, full length, on 4 sheets of 46x34cm paper. Bit slow and rusty with the ol' watercolours, but it's coming back... The shit that gets posted here is just like the shit on the TV. Don't watch it. Especially if POTUS is in the thread title. |

Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: Jeri Date: 03 Feb 14 - 09:41 PM I'm convinced there is a small number of people here who automatically agree or disagree with posts based on who wrote them, and otherwise are a little bit afraid of having an opinion. Hoping the P-Vine does well. Sounds like she could use some positive experiences. |

Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: Jack the Sailor Date: 03 Feb 14 - 09:10 PM I don't mind you posting this way. It is allowed and it is not offensive. Just a little confusing. It makes it hard for me to take what you say seriously. Not that you don't speak well or have serious things to say. You do. But there are people who forget their cookies and people to confuse us to confuse you with. It is impossible for me to think of you as a person with no handle, because you could be any number of people. |

Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: GUEST Date: 03 Feb 14 - 08:51 PM "As you will use a handle when you feel like it? Isn't that the way it works? :-)" Jack, I used a 'handle' for years and had it misused by another poster. Don't believe that? Ask SRS about it. Now, I no longer use a designation. I do not care what you think. You have a real name but you don't use it either. You are Jack the Sailor and I am Guest. You don't have to like it, but no one is asking you to, least of all me. |
Subject: RE: BS: Where is Bobert? From: Bobert Date: 03 Feb 14 - 08:39 PM Hey, ya'll... I check in about once a week to see what's what... Seems that, like my last post said, there ain't much discussion... You know, the latest Obama hate threads by the same Obama hater... Maybe it's that hate thing that finally drove me away... I don't mind mixing it up but having a resident hater just kinda makes things less fun.. No, make that no fun... I'm doing fine... My "Intro to Drawing" class is going well... I'm performing... Gettin' some quality (for me) gigs... The P-vine has just had her 4th surgery related to breast cancer... The implant she had last time blew up... She has just had a reconstruction, using all the fat the she had in her tummy, transplanted up top... That was last Wednesday... It's going well... Other than that, I'm still me... I love a lot of ya'll... You know who you are... I dislike a couple of ya'll... You know who you are... Nothin' new there... Maybe I'll check back in in a couple three days seein' as folks is talkin' about me and might have to defend myself... Later... B~ |
