I was just reading a book about The Duke of Wellington and this little ditty came to my mind. One I learned from my Mum.

To the tune of The British Grenadiers

There was a Scots Highlander who went to Waterloo
the wind blew up his petticoat and showed his half past two
his half past two was dirty, he showed it to The Quee-een
The Queen gave him ninepence to have it painted green.

Ah yes, isn't folk music wonderful?

My Nan used to sing this to me when I was a child (now approaching 50). We need to remember these songs as part of our colourful past.
