Lyr. Add: FOR ALL WE KNOW
Music J. Fred Coots; lyrics Sam M. Lewis; 1934

1
Sweetheart, the night is growing old
Sweetheart, my love is still untold
A kiss that is never tested
Forever and ever is wasted.

Refrain:
For all we know we may never meet again
Before you go make this moment live again
We won't say "Good Night" until the last moment
I'll hold out my hand and my heart will be in it.

For all we know this may only be a dream
We come and go like a ripple on a stream
So love me tonight, tomorrow was made for some
Tomorrow may never come, for all we know.

2
Why should we waste a night like this?
Why should we waste a single kiss?
Why can't we laugh at tomorrow?
Tomorrow will pay what we borrow.

One of the best lyrics of the 1930s. I liked Nat King Cole's singing.
Many singers did not use the verses.

One of my favorite songs. Thanks for posting this.
Susannah McCorkle sang that last verse as an intro and Billie Holiday sang the first one as an intro but you're right, not many singers used those lyrics. More's the pity.

Two corrections: tested should be tasted and in the 3rd line of the initial refrain, moment should be minute.

Correct on both corrections. Thanks.
