Well, we broke the record again last night with regard to turnout!
Just four singers - but what quality! Thanks to those loyal folks who braved throat infections to come and share their songs and carols.

Has everyone else left the planet??

A merry Christmas and happy New Year to one and all, and let's make it a New Year resolution to come and support this session, otherwise we'll be in danger of closing down.

Well, we certainly broke all records this month - for the lowest all-time attendance figure! Apologies were received from three of our loyal regulars due to car trouble and serious illness. And thanks to T and K for their continued support. We did, however, enjoy also a short visit from a four-piece female harmony group, whose members certainly appreciated the ethic of our little gathering, but for whom logistics prevent regular attendance.
But - begging the question - where is everyone else?
There's time before the next session (18th December) to farm out those childcare/grandad-watching/knitting-circle/weekly bible-class/dog-pruning commitments - so c'mon, let's make that seasonal gathering a good'un!

Here's the usual reminder for those who might be interested in our friendly and inclusive singers' session. Although we have a small but loyal following, we still welcome fresh entrants and returning attendees. And of course listeners...

Come and join us for a full evening of song - plenty of chances to sing whatever you like and/or swell the chorus. We're also promised a visit by a three-piece harmony group this month, so get there early!

We will also be paying tribute to two folk scene greats, Bill Caddick and Roy Bailey, who tragically have both passed away within the past few days.

Yes, it was a great night on Tuesday - albeit another small but perfectly formed turnout. Anything from classic ballads to music-hall, and even some suitably "spirited" Hallowe'en-themed songs.

Well, as we approach our third "century" on Mudcat, I must report an all-time record attendance at yesterday evening's session.
A really good time was had by all, sharing some three-dozen songs over the course of the evening.

Duly refreshed by the fresher weather, yes - but a poor turnout, sadly, and for no apparent reason. Apologies were received from folks with car trouble and a dinner engagement. But otherwise it seems we've been deserted by our erstwhile supporters. Maybe we should consider rescheduling for a different night each month?

It was an interesting session, competing with the football revelries in the pub downstairs and on the fire escape, but not very well attended - principally due to the heat which tended to put folks off from the ten-minute uphill walk from the Town Hall!

Now for this month's usual session at Hunslet (The Garden Gate pub), which is in ten days' time, on TUESDAY 31st JULY, at the normal start time of 8pm. Hoping to see more of you there... come back, we miss you!!

Well we did our best to keep cool in the sweltering heat, and managed a good session - albeit with a completely different roll-call of participants to last month. Especially good to welcome back John & Vic. Thanks to all our loyal supporters...

The next JV session will be the Cleckheaton Festival special edition on Friday 6th July at the Station Tavern, then we'll be back at Hunslet on Tuesday 31st July.

Well, it's over again for another month, and I am sad to report that it was a very poor turnout last night.
Thanks to Linn, Tom and Barbara for their loyal support and excellent contributions - you made the night worth while.
And OK, we received some legit apologies from other valued supporters (flat tyre, booked gig, impossible throat), but the weirdest thing is, no response whatsoever from almost everyone else on the mailing list. Well, maybe 24th seemed "the wrong" date, but it WAS the last Tuesday, honest! (30 days hath Aoril...)
So we'll try again - on 29th May - and let's hope for a better turnout, I could say "use it or lose it"!

The heavy overnight snow has settled, and more is forecast for this afternoon/evening, so I think the most sensible course is to cancel tonight's session, particularly considering those who might be travelling some distance or from equally snowbound regions.

Weather forecast's not looking good for Tuesday, but I'm hopeful the snow won't settle enough to prevent us going ahead.

Just your monthly reminder that this month's session will still take place at the Garden Gate on TUESDAY 27TH FEBRUARY as booked.

Even the current spate of roadworks involving the overnight closure of the M621 motorway shouldn't put you off coming to Hunslet for a good sing!
