hi folks,

Hi folks - I'm a writer in the USA working on biography of Paul Simon to be published by Henry Holt & Co. whenever it's done.

As many of you know, Paul spent chunks of the early-mid 1960s working the folk circuit around London and beyond. I'm going to be in the UK next week (from Feb 25 - Mar 5) and am hoping to connect to his friends and fellow musicians.

I'm particularly to find a woman named Joan Bata, who was part of a circle of folk musicians and friends who orbited around theflat owned by Judith Piepe.

I've spoken to a few people who knew Ms. Piepe and her flat, but nobody knows where Ms. Bata might be now.

Do you know anything about his current whereabouts?

If so, I'd be very grateful if you contacted me via my email: peteramescarlin@gmail.com.

Thanks very much,

Peter

Hi Al - Thanks for pointing that out. I looked at Bredda's posts, which do seem very promising, but couldn't find contact information for her. Did I miss something? Or does anyone out there know where she might be found?

thanks,

Peter

Erm, yes... Try this post

I trust that the rest of your research isn't so shoddy?

As Bredda has posted fairly recently, she may be reading further posts to that thread, so why not address her in a post to the thread?

Thanks, John. My search didn't turn that up, for some reason. As for the rest of my research, threads do get knotted on occasion. But when you're working on a book about a New York-based pop star who was also a prominent U.S. Senator from Illinois for 20-plus years, there's a lot to keep straight.

cheers, peter

Two different Paul Simons. Or is that Pauls Simon? Salient point is that I was kidding. Me and my shoddy research. We have a lot of fun together.

Hi Peter:

I don't know Joan Bata but just wanted to mention in case you don't already know - that Paul Simon used to got to a small folk club in the early days of his career called, Bunjies Folk Cellar.
It was before my time as I used to go to Bunjies when I was in London in the 70's & 1980's but had heard from many people that Paul did go to Bunjies when he was in London in the early days during mid or early 60's.
Bunjies was a great folk club!!

Lin
