Subject: War Horse live cinema showings From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 02 Mar 14 - 10:28 PM On Wednesday last there was a cinema event with the National Theatre stage production of War Horse beamed to cinemas just about all over the world. Our cinema was packed out, and it was a brilliant show. I've seen it live, and the cinema event was actually even better, because I could hear the words better and see the faces. And the horse puppets were incredible. And the songs of course, so familiar from folk clubs and festivals... I'm wondering if many other Mudcatters went to see it in their cinemas? |
Subject: RE: War Horse live cinema showings From: GUEST Date: 03 Mar 14 - 12:48 AM my wife saw it, she says it was brilliant, but occasionally a bit boring. |
Subject: RE: War Horse live cinema showings From: GUEST,Ray Date: 03 Mar 14 - 04:27 AM I saw the touring version at the Lowry. It started OK but if I'd been on my own I'd have gone home at the interval. I found the whole thing boring ...... and those bl##€y horses! I likened the whole thing to a pantomime with more than one horse. |
Subject: RE: War Horse live cinema showings From: GUEST,Diva Date: 03 Mar 14 - 10:53 AM I saw it on Thursday night in Hawick. Cinema was packed. It was amazing. Loved it and wept buckets at the end. The songs were fabulous. |

Subject: RE: War Horse live cinema showings From: LesB Date: 04 Mar 14 - 04:24 AM I went & loved it, I thought Ben Murrey was excellent. Cheers Les |
Subject: RE: War Horse live cinema showings From: Keith A of Hertford Date: 04 Mar 14 - 04:29 AM There was a live link shown at Broxbourne. Having seen the stage production I did not go. I wish I had now. Certainly much cheaper than a trip to West End! |
Subject: RE: War Horse live cinema showings From: Johnny J Date: 04 Mar 14 - 04:33 AM I enjoyed it very much and was almost like being at the theatre itself with interval drinks and all. We actually viewed it in the big hall at the Brunton Theatre in Musselburgh which was much better than going to one of these horrible "multiplex" places. |
Subject: RE: War Horse live cinema showings From: ian1943 Date: 04 Mar 14 - 07:44 AM We saw 'War Horse' at the Gala Theatre in Durham last night having seen the film some time ago. The National Theatre presentation on a huge screen was absolutely excellent and we needed strong drink when we got home. |
Subject: RE: War Horse live cinema showings From: Bonzo3legs Date: 04 Mar 14 - 02:21 PM It's showing in Croydon soon and we will be there. |
Subject: RE: War Horse live cinema showings From: GUEST Date: 04 Mar 14 - 04:44 PM Our first showing in Hull was sold out. I'm going to the next one in a couple of weeks. Our friends who got in to the first showing are going back again. All folkies. |
Subject: RE: War Horse live cinema showings From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 06 Mar 14 - 09:50 PM Quite hard not to join in Rolling Home. Which would likely get you chucked out if you did. |
Subject: RE: War Horse live cinema showings From: Bonzo3legs Date: 07 Mar 14 - 03:00 AM Nice to get a live recording of the folk bits! |
Subject: RE: War Horse live cinema showings From: My guru always said Date: 07 Mar 14 - 07:08 AM We saw it on 7th March at Dorking Halls, to a packed house. There were a few seconds here & there of pixellation problems but otherwise was fantastic. Wished we could have joined in the singing and applause and missed the atmosphere of the theatre production, but vision & sound were great! |
