DERT 2014 Leeds on Saturday 8th March From DERT on FB

Not long to go until DERT 2014 folks! Dancers - just remember to start on your left foot on the 6th beat and you won't go far wrong! Musicians - 6/8 was so last year . . . hornpipes all the way! Tommys - at least TRY to be funny, one day some one will laugh! Audience . . . come and enjoy yourselves with some cracking beer (guaranteed), fantastic dancing (hopefully), the best muso's in town (expected) and funny jokes from the supporting cast (unlikely)

Yes I've got Google, but why did the original poster assume we would all know what it meant ? instead of making it clear from the start.

I am so sorry Mr Hanson that I have upset you, I thought I was letting people know that the Dance England Rapper Tournament was taking place this weekend in Leeds. I sincerely thought most people had an idea what DERT was. Once again I can only apologise and thank the kind people who took time out to rectify my inadequacies. I will try and do better in the future to disseminate information to interested parties.

Agree.....never assume everyone knows what you're talking about!

In my ex-profession, PID could mean Pelvic Inflammatory Disease - or Prolapsed Intervertebral Disc - depending which department you ended up in. (which would you rather have??)
There was a convention that you would spell the whole thing out first time and thereafter resort to initials/acronyms.

Hardly anybody seems to want the dert.* domain; they're all parked except for dert.ru, which is the personal site of Sergey Nechaev (any relation of the anarchist bomber?).

In my past lives PID was either Process Identifier (operating systems) or Principal Ideal Domain (abstract algebra).
