Subject: RE: Bok, Muir & Trickett reunion concert From: GUEST Date: 05 Mar 14 - 06:26 PM It may be just as well that I didn't hear about this one sooner. I could have easily been tempted to drive 650 miles. I was in the Navy in 1965, and had just bought a good reel-to-reel tape recorder and a good turntable from the Guam Naval Station store. I scrounged up all the LP's from shipmates that interested me, and copied them unto tape. Someone had an album titled "The Magic of Mayo Muir"; I'm not sure if the name Ann was anywhere on the back or not. I fell in love. I never really heard more about her until I discovered Bok, Trickett, and Muir about the time they were doing a farewell tour. Didn't have the chance to catch them anywhere. At least I have some of their CD's, and I've had a chance to hear Gordon live and exchange a few words with him. |

Subject: RE: Bok, Muir & Trickett reunion concert From: bbc Date: 09 Mar 14 - 10:07 AM Great concert! Sold-out audience, who knew all the lyrics, to sing along, in harmony, on choruses. BMT did a satisfying number of their recorded songs, as well as a bit of new. Ann is writing songs & playing uke; delightful! It was wonderful to see them together, again! Duane, Caroline, & I went out to eat, after the concert with Ann, her daughter, Ed & family. Gordon & Carol were tired, but it was great to see & talk with them! All very satisfying! They came, because the Sounding Board bookie invited them. Who knows? They might come to your neighborhood, too! Best, Barbara |

Subject: RE: Bok, Muir & Trickett reunion concert From: Elmore Date: 09 Mar 14 - 12:07 PM I'm afraid the chances of this wonderful trio coming to Young Harris, Ga. are somewhat slim. |

Subject: RE: Bok, Muir & Trickett reunion concert From: bbc Date: 09 Mar 14 - 04:51 PM Duane & I saw Gordon & Carol perform together, once, on guitar & harp. It was truly wonderful! I'm sure that seeing them would be a treat! Last night, I picked up a copy of Ann's 2011 CD, "Born to Blossom"--her playful ukulele compositions. Fun! Barbara |
Subject: RE: Bok, Muir & Trickett reunion concert From: Duane D. Date: 09 Mar 14 - 11:39 PM I was officially digitally imaging the concert for the Sounding Board. The venue was very dark with no lighting at the stage, only limited ambient room lighting. Still, I was able to get a few reasonable images. I, personally, prefer to only use the available ambient light, no flash. I also prefer to image from behind the audience so as not to distract the performers and the audience. I usually use a moderate length fast telephoto lens. In order to get anything viewable under these conditions, I had to push the sensitivity (ISO) to 1600. My first image of the concert posted to my flickr gallery is viewable here. Please bear in mind, viewing in the Original Size will clearly show all the imperfections, including camera noise (graininess) and blurring from subject movement. The text with the image describes how I took the image. |
