Failing that, you can search for a MIDI file and edit it for your purpose, e.g. remove the solo part, transpose it to E major and change the sound to your pleasure. You need a MIDI editor (aka "sequencer") for that, which is available for free (ask Bill D for a recommendation). Your friend can play the resulting MIDI file simply from a laptop computer with good external loudspeakers plugged in. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: I'll walk beside you backing music key E From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 17 Mar 14 - 03:14 PM Hi, Rachael. This closest I could find was the lines below. Do you know a guitarist (or similar) who would be willing to play along? I hope this is the song you have in mind, the song from a 1936 movie. Let me write out the scales: A B- C# D E F# G# A E F# G# A B C# D# E To do the song in E: change D's to A's change F#m to C#m change A's to E's change E to B Grishka, please see if I'm doing this right. I'll Walk Beside You Edward Lockton / Alan Murray Chorus A D A I'll walk beside you through the world today E While dreams and songs and flowers bless your way F#m D A I'll look into your eyes and hold your hand E A I'll walk beside you through the golden land. Chorus I'll walk beside you through the world tonight Beneath the starry skies ablaze with light Within your soul love's tender words I'll hide I'll walk beside you through the eventide. Chorus I'll walk beside you through the passing years Through days of clouds and sunshine, joy and tears And when the great call comes the sunset gleams I'll walk beside you to the land of dreams. |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: I'll walk beside you backing music key E From: Nick Date: 17 Mar 14 - 04:05 PM If you have access to Spotify then you could use this - I'll Walk Beside You in Eb - it's in Eb but what's a semitone when you are struggling? It wouldn't be hard to move it up a semitone It's also on myspace - https://myspace.com/ameritzkaraokeband/music/song/i-ll-walk-beside-you-40313034-89396640 And iTunes etc |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: I'll walk beside you backing music key E From: GUEST,Grishka Date: 18 Mar 14 - 08:23 AM leeneia, if Rachael asks for guitar chords, we'll see. At the moment I think a MIDI file comes closest to her wishes. If she finds one that only needs transposing (and possibly muting the solo part), she need not edit it at all, but can use software like "VanBasco's karaoke player" or "VocisMagis" to do it on the fly - easy to find, free, and very easy to use. BTW: it is also possible to transpose sound files (e.g. MP3), using an audio editor such as "Audacity" - free as well, but not that easy to use. |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: I'll walk beside you backing music key E From: Little Robyn Date: 17 Jun 14 - 05:15 PM I remember this from about 60 years ago, sung by Josef Locke. My favourite version is from Aled Jones but I can't find that on Youtube. Here's another boy soprano singing beautifully but it's very high - I hope your God son can handle it. Robyn |
