Subject: RE: Princeton BC Trad Music Festival 2014 From: Jon Bartlett Date: 15 May 14 - 12:13 AM Yea, a fine group indeed! There are of course financial constraints. Our festival is entirely free: no-one (including the performers) is paid. We subsist on grants, ad sales and donations. We accommodate our performers in a campsite or through billets, we feed them all at local restaurants, and we manage most years to give them a bit of travel money - but that's it. professional performers have to give up a weekend of potential paying gigs to come to the Festival, and that's a measure of our success, that so many are willing to do that. We can hope that groups as fine as COIG can come visit us if it fits timewise into a paying BC tour. Jon Bartlett |

Subject: RE: Princeton BC Trad Music Festival 2014 From: Larry The Radio Guy Date: 22 May 14 - 01:00 PM I wish I were able to attend this year, but it conflicts with my jazz swing camp in Sorrento. It's a great festival-------and one that totally maintains it's integrity every year. If you've never been there and have any chance at all to attend, don't miss it. |
Subject: RE: Princeton BC Trad Music Festival 2014 From: Ole Juul Date: 26 May 14 - 01:29 AM I've been working on a new web site for the PTMF in the last few days and it's ready for public consumption. I must admit that I stole some of the code, since I can't write php, but I got the html under control (I think). I dumped the old forum which wasn't really needed since there is this wonderful Mudcat forum here which seems to cover most of the community anyway. I put the Disqus commenting system on the side for the few who wish to have a public conversation. For easy e-mail access, I added a comment form that just needs to be clicked. Anyway, thanks for the opportunity to post here. Have a look: PTMF web site. |

Subject: RE: Princeton BC Trad Music Festival 2014 From: GUEST,mg Date: 27 May 14 - 11:39 AM I know of people from seattle looking for rides...if they made it to vvancouver are there ways to carpool or take public trans... |
Subject: RE: Princeton BC Trad Music Festival 2014 From: Ole Juul Date: 07 Jun 14 - 05:10 AM There's a Greyhound bus. See links and info on the Festival site. (scroll down to "getting there") I'm not sure about organizing rides from Vancouver, but it sounds like a great idea. Try a message on the page above. Also, you got me thinking about this, would it be useful to have a page on the site for this purpose? I'm not sure what I could do, but I'm willing to set something up. If I get an e-mail or two about this then I could say on the site that someone is looking to ride share from Van, or Seattle for that matter. Perhaps the Festival Committee needs to have a "ride coordinator" position. |
Subject: RE: Princeton BC Trad Music Festival 2014 From: Jon Bartlett Date: 07 Jun 14 - 11:42 PM The performer's bios are up on the site (see above) and the schedule will follow in a couple of days. We'll look into the "ride coordinator" at the next Festival meeting. Jon Bartlett |
Subject: RE: Princeton BC Trad Music Festival 2014 From: Ole Juul Date: 14 Jun 14 - 01:23 AM In regards to mg's earlier request for carpooling, I've posted the following on the PTMF web site: We encourage people to carpool and share rides to come here. For people in Vancouver, and even Seattle, this can be a way to share gas costs, help the environment, and perhaps even make it possible for someone to come who could not otherwise afford it. If you have extra space in your car and would like to be helpful in this regard, please send a note to ride@princetontraditional.org and we will try to coordinate people. Those offering a ride will be given the e-mail address of those needing one. There is no obligation to PTMF and you make your own decisions and arrangements. |
