Ihad a feeling of deja vu when i picked up the 5 string banjo, i definitely felt i had done it in a previous life, has anyone else had this experience when picking up a new musical instrument, do i need to see a doctor?

Dick, if you're picking up a 5-string banjo regularly, you definitely need to see a doctor...

I had the opposite experience. When I started playing 5 string banjo about a year ago I picked up my new instrument and thought " Wow, I've never done this before". I believe that was example of what George Carlin called "Vuja De".

I saw Dick pick up and play a banjo last year. I thought, "Hang on! I've already seen that banjo.... it's Pete Coe's".

As Déjà vu means literally "already seen", I give this an an example of this phenomenon.

On another occasion, I think it was last year, I saw Dick pick up and play a banjo.....

You did it in a previous life and you're doing it again?!! Some people just never learn!

Ask Les Barker. He can explain it for you.

Last time I picked up a piano, I was not upright afterwards. But it was grand in the long run.

(Sorry)
