Subject: Coming to New England .. very soon ...
From: Anne Lister

We're coming to New England, arriving at JFK on 9th May and then driving up to Mystic for our first night. We're going on to Providence, RI where I will be singing at a house concert. What happens next is still something of a mystery - we were planning to head up to Maine to visit Julia Lane and Fred Gosbee (and do another concert) but they have family circumstances which mean that organising a concert isn't really likely. We were on the point of re-organising everything when Julia said they would still love us to visit and could possibly organise a school gig of sorts, so it looks as if we're heading north. Would any Mudcatter within easy reach of Round Pond/Bristol/Damariscotta be up for organising a concert instead? We're then heading south again on 14th May - staying with friends in NYC on 15th prior to sailing home in grand style on the Queen Mary. Again, if any 'Catter between Maine and NYC would be up for organising a concert on 14th that'd be great.
If you can't organise a concert but would be interested in meeting up and you're somewhere on this journey please let me know! We may have something happening on Cape Cod or in Boston but it's all still a bit misty and indistinct... Any thoughts or offers of help most gratefully received.

Anne

If any one is NOT familiar with Anne's work , she is a fine writer (Moth and Icarus to name but two) and a fine singer to boot ! IF I was still running a club I would book her like a shot !

Oh, Rapparee ... if we were in the US for longer there are many places I would love to visit. However this time we only have a week in total, so anywhere off the eastern coastal corridor above New York City is really not an option! Maybe I should start planning a proper US tour?

A US tour would be nice, late winter or early spring would be perfect. After mid-April other things seem to fill peoples lives, even gardening.
Late winter would fill a void for entertainment here.

Late winter/early spring would also mean possible weather problems ... but I'll look into it! I have a lot of friends I'd like to see as well as songs to sing and tales to tell. However for a proper tour I'd also have to look at getting a proper performing visa so would need someone in the US to take care of the relevant paperwork - it needs some thought.

Weather always seems to be mixed. Common Fence Point in Portsmouth RI is always a nice venue to keep in mind, as well as a couple of clubs in Newport RI which changing their format gradually.
