Is Christine ( Lt/Cdr Poulter , RN ) one of your members ?? ; she lives by the canal (or did) in "Bailey's Barn" , or something like that ) .We used to run a folk club in Gosport years ago (1970s) !!

The first Bear English music session went very well in the event. We were missing a couple of regulars due to the bank holiday but gained a couple of visitors who were down for Chippenham so it balanced out. Matters were assisted by the very large plate of sandwiches which unexpectedly arrived about 10 o'clock, courtesy of the landlord. Afterwards I had a chat with him and he was happy with things, so we definitely have our new home. We're still sorting out the best way to arrange the furniture; fortunately the landlord doesn't mind and doesn't expect us to put it all back before we leave the room.

Feeling quite chuffed now.

Chris

Perhaps we could twin with your session as we two were chucked for similar reasons?

Songs and Tunes at The Beech - now at The Dulcimer

Best wishes

After over 5 good years in the same pub we are having to move the Bradford on Avon English music session to a new home. It's the usual reason, landlord forced out after a large hike in the rental and no replacement on the horizon. A real shame because Darren, the landlord, is a muso himself and was always very supportive of the session.

Anyway, from next Monday the 26th May at 8.30pm we are at The Bear, 26 Silver Street, Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire. BA15 1JY. We've got a neat room out the back that could have been made for the purpose and THE CHAIRS HAVE NO ARMS (yay!).

Next Monday is, of course, the last day of Chippenham Folk Festival and Bradford on Avon is only 10 miles from Chippenham, so if you fancy going to a good session after the festival we'd be happy to see (and hear) you.

More about the session here: englishmusicplayedhere.org.uk

Cheers,

Chris
