Subject: RE: Obit: Maya Angelou (1928-2014) From: ChanteyLass Date: 29 May 14 - 09:17 PM I had never read anything by her until less that a year ago. Then one of my book clubs chose I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings and "Singin' and Swingin' and Gettin' Merry Like Christmas," and my other book club chose "Mom & Me & Mom" which we discussed on Wednesday. Before leaving for that book club meeting I heard the news that she had died. What an amazing woman. She achieved so much. I will read other books that she wrote. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Maya Angelou (1928-2014) From: GUEST,Arkie Date: 29 May 14 - 06:23 PM She was scheduled for an appearance in my daughter's library in Fayetteville about two months ago. There was limited seating and the tickets were claimed in less than a week. Many ticket requests went unfilled. I was glad to see that interest was so high in Arkansas. She was truly one of the greats of this century. |
