Here is a loud shout out to Joe Offer. I asked him for an easy way to check the copyright status of about a dozen songs that are in the DT Database. I wanted to print the lyrics in a book I wrote. Instead of telling me where to go, Joe hopped right on it and did the research himself. It was thorough and enlightening. He said he actually enjoyed doing it. It sure saved me a bunch of time. I appreciate you, Joe.

I see this as one of the positive aspects of the folk community... the willingness to pitch in and contribute without the "what's in it for me" attitude.

here comes the geek speak - people are social animals and what helps bind us together is the trait of reciprocity.... not a dirty word but a social interaction that involves bonding through exchanging favors. This can be very complex interactions, but explains a great deal about human interactions.

This does not take away anything from Joe's good deed, and goes to show that one way we define good people is how they treat others. The other end of the spectrum are those who have very negative attitudes and always suspect the worst of others. We see all to much of that these days, and not just on Mudcat.

So thank you, Joe, for your nice act... and thank you, pattyjack, for giving a shout out.

We probably don't say so as often as we should. I'm glad you posted this!

A list of creative, helpful folk on Muscat would be pretty long at this point. Some, sadly, have left us, but it's always great to read of meritorious application of erudite scholarship

Quite right to let Joe know he's appreciated. If you're gonna jump in and complain when you think something's wrong you should, by the same token, always let a person know when they've done something right.

Not much I can add to what has already been said above or to what I have said in the past. Hmmm... Joe, thanks for all the great pics on Facebook.

Yes. Thank you to all the Mods.
I don't know quite what the Mudcat mods do but I was a mod on another site and know how much tidying up needs doing to stop the site being over-run with spam, pornography and slow-loading pictures. Yet people are ready to shout at the mods for doing this or not doing that, as if they were getting bankers' bonuses for all the time they put in.
