Hey Mudders,

I know this is a long shot as there seem to be no extant copies of this 78 in the world.
Has anybody ever heard this song? Heard of anybody who's heard it? I'd really love to know what the lyrics are. The A side is called "Old Grey Goose" I think.

Thanks,

JM

Are either of the songs starting on page 25 of Milburn's THE HOBOS HORNBOOK the one you are thinking of?

HOBO CONVENTION was recorded by Boyd Carpenter in Sept., 1932 and issued as a 78-rpm record, Champion 16519. The other side was OLD GRAY GOOSE IS DEAD.

This information is from the Online 78-rpm Discographical Project which is also indexed at Honking Duck.

A song called the Hobo's Convention, which may or may not be the same one, was recorded by Goebel Reeves.

The Goebel Reeves version, which, of course, was originally on a 78, was included in an LP reissue some years ago. I still have the LP, so could jot down the words for you.

The second of the two songs is the Goebel Reeves song. Saves me from writing it down.
