Went to see John Renbourne and Wizz Jones last week at Band on the Wall, Manchester. Wizz came on first and he was fabulous. Amazing guitar style and great voice - reckon Bert Jansch was so right when he said Wizz should be a superstar. Then on came John - 'superstar' no. 2 and the two of them together was amazing. Try and get to see em folks if they're in your area (or even outside).
Anyone else seen em recently ?

yes indeed I saw them - you speak the truth. wizz should be at least an mbe - probably a saint. I kove the guy and his playing!

Sounds good. John Renbourn's last name, though, does not have "e" appended to it.

I saw Wizz Jones at the Hoy at Anchor Folk Club in Essex last year. There was a rumour that John Renbourn might turn up and play a few songs but unfortunately he couldn't make it.
Wizz played a blinder of a set but as for making him an MBE... that's the sort of award they give to crooked councillors, dodgy MPs and tax-evading businessmen. What finer title can he have than the name he made for himself: Wizz Jones.
