I used to have a program (and the knowledge) to convert a Real Player file into an MP3. I used to have various computers that could play RP files right in RP. All that is gone, but I have a song I originally got from PHC, that I need to hear once more to arrange for our gospel band:

http://prairiehome.publicradio.org/programs/20030607/

It's this song, at 22:56: 99 ˝ Won't Do - Mollie O'Brien and the Hopeful Gospel Quartet

It's a unique take on Rosetta Tharpe's historical creation, but I need to hear MOLLIE's version. I've been searching every where and which-way for her version in any other form, to no avail. (Including other useless Youtube versions.)

Can some really helpful Catter, for whom this would be easy, just get me a damn MP3?!?!? Pretty please?

It's in connection with our last-songbook-in-progress-before-retirement. I have the lyric I transcribed and edited, but the sound file (captured via Total Recorder probably) is on one of the dead towers and the archive, if I have it, is on an external hard drive in Ohio. And this "old" laptop isn't doing too well these days, either.

Hep!

~Susan

This may be solved. A local church computer may be able to nab it in RP and then we can record it on a voice recorder to MP3.

"TEncoder is a multithreaded video and audio converter that uses
MEncoder, MPlayer and FFMpeg. It can convert almost every video and
audio type to each other. Subtitles with same name as video can be
hard-coded into video. Up to 8 simultaneous encoders can be run so
encoding time decreases. You can select between multiple audio and
subtitle tracks. Extracting video or audio content is possible. Edit
subtitle and audio delays and part of video that will be encoded.
Effects like deinterlacing can be applied to videos.
Features:
Supports almost all video formats
Multithreading enables you to use all cores of your CPU
Subtitles can be hard-coded into video
Output video codecs are: Mpeg1, Mpeg2, Xvid, Mpeg4, H264, FLV, WMV,
VP8
Output audio codecs are: MP3, WAV, AAC, OGG Vorbis, AC3, Mp2
Choose between FFMpeg and Mencoder as encoder
Select between different audio and subtitle tracks for each file
Do two passes to improve quality
Pass custom commands to encoders
Preview files before encoding"

Thanks Bill. No can do but maybe someone else can.... I now have a recording of recording of a fragment, with hiss and hiccups; if anyone can do an mp3 for me it would be a big help. Seems only older puders come with RP anymore.

Your clip plays fine on my old windows XP machine, using VLC Media Player - so it just needs an audio lead from the headphone socket or some recording software. Total Recorder never lets me down.

GMG, it would play fine on my two (3?) XP puders too if they were working. Can you email me an MP3 of the song?

I use atube catcher for a lot of audio/video capture etc and the old version used to have a useful mp3 downloader which basically captured an mp3 from the sound on youtube clips which was quite handy

Subject: ADD: NINETY NINE AND A HALF WON'T DO!
From: wysiwyg

NINETY NINE AND A HALF WON'T DO!
Learned from the singing of Mollie O'Brien and the Hopeful Gospel Quartet.
Adapted, edited, arranged, v. 4 (C) 2006 Susan O. Hinton for The Good News-Goodtime Band.

1. It's a rugged, uphill journey, gettin' sanctified.
I'm tryin' to make a hundred, or I won't be satisfied.
Paul says to run it, no matter how hard the race,
I don't want to quit, or even take second place. So I'm...

REFRAIN:
... a-runnin'; I'm trying to make a hundred. Ninety-nine and a half won't do!
Seventy? that won't make it! Eighty? Trying to fake it?
Ninety? that's not close! Ninety-nine is only almost!
If you're running & you're trying to make a hundred-- Ninety-nine and a half won't do!

2. Once I got religion, I started my race.
Want to see my lovin' God, someday face to face.
Till I got religion, didn't know just where to start;
Bound to make a hundred if I give my whole heart. Well I'm...

3. John the Baptist-- the forerunner of Christ--
They cut off his head, and then they took his life.
Death came a-sudden, in the guardsman's blade,
John looked at him & smiled 'cause his hundred was made. He was...

4. He's called us, every one, to do a job for Him.
He sees it perfect, finished? we see it mighty dim.
You got to hear his 'structions, to ever get it done,
That's the only way the top prize can be won. Well I'm...
