Subject: HELP: Need Recent Thread w/ Kipling

I am printing out some of the memorable threads of recent times to share wiht my dad. I know we had one int he past two months which had a lot about Kipling in it, but Kipling was not in the name. I cannot remember the name of the thread, nor have I been able to find it in a forum/thread search.

Anyone remember which one it was?

Also, Sourdough posted on this summer about having recorded some music in Central City, Co. if I remember right, then years later stopping at a place in Nevada and finding they were the relatives of the old woman he'd recorded and thta he ahd the only recordings of her, whcih he very kindly shared wiht the family then. IT was a great story and I cannot find it! I think he'd sent it to me by emai, too and can't find that one! Sorry, SD, hope you see this!

Well, that wasn't the one I was thinking about. This one had more extensive discussion on not just Kipling, but others to. I guess I'll go check LeeJ's poetry thread. Thanks anyway!

Thanks, Bob, but that wasn't it, either. The one I am thinking of was in the last two months, because I remember some of the newbies from the UK jumping in, seems around the time of Getaway. NOW, I will go check the poetry threads.

Thanks, guys, nope. I think now I must've rememberd wrong. Thanks for looking, I will try a couple of others. It's not a big deal; I have printed out about 50-60 pages of other Mudcat threads for him, so he's got plenty of reading material for a few days at least!

Hi, y'all -
To make forum searching a bit easier, I've been trying to put keywords in subject titles of messages that contain song lyrics or other information people may want again. If you notice such a message that doesn't have an appropriate title, please send me a personal message and let me know about it. Note that the "filter" searches for thread titles, while the "forum search" searches for either the sender or the message subject - I can change the message subject, but not the other information, so you might have the best luck with a message subject search.

Kat, try "Peter Bellamy Recordings". He set a lot of Kipling's works to music. This was another rather short thread, and the one I recall.

I remember that someone wanted the words, or the source of the White Seal story from one of the Jungle Books, or the poem "The Naulakha" that went with it - can't find that in the titles at all, either.

Thanks, Mary, Penny and everyone else. I think I have faulty memory wires or something. Mary, I have several Kipling books, too. It wasn't so much his works, but little anecdotes and jokes Mudcatters wrote about him and his works that I seem to recall enjoying so much. Thanks, kat

Try this for an anecdote about Kipling. He was named Rudyard because his parents were staying at Rudyard Lake near Stoke in the Midlands of UK. They liked the place so much they named him Rudyard. We should be grateful they weren't staying at Seaton Sluice!
